That is normal until the machine heats up, its just saying that it is warming up.

Basically you need a meter and have to check machine all the way from pwer source to each part of machine. There is a safety thermostat that looks like this Heating Element Safety Thermostat if you reset it and still nothing try your main power switch on front of machine they fail often. This is a really good machine so its worth taking it in to be repaired by a pro.

Your boiler is flooding because the water level probe is not behaving properly. The machine thinks it needs water.

That's a tough one, the only thing I can think of is checking the reset switch and the element with an ohms meter to see if they are functioning correctly, before moving on. The only reason the machine would turn itself off, would be lack of water in the main boiler and if it does not know there is water in the reservoir, or it cannot take water from the reservoir to fill the boiler, or the element is overheating so *** trips the reset.

If it is a 110 machine it is most likely single phase, most equipment in the US(assuming you are in the US is wired single phase). If you turned it off seconds after you realized it was not connected to water you will be fine, there would be no damage to the pump. Just connect the water then turn on the first switch only when the boiler fills tunr on the middle switch.
