No SIM card installed

I keep getting a "No SIM card installed" error massage. I can't do anything with my iPhone 3G. Tried restarting it, but no luck, took out the SIM & replaced it, also no good.

What can I do? I really don't want to go to the Apple store, it's still crazy there.

I too have had the "no sim card installed message. What has always worked for me is to go into settings and put the phone into airplane mode for about ten seconds and then switch back to regular mode which causes the phone to reconnect to the ATT network. The sim message goes away. This is also a good fix for when your phone isn't connecting to 3G or showing an "E" instead of 3G.

3G Iphone froze at Apple Screen, no way to restart it or sync it

While downloading bloomberg app, it hung up and i reset the phone during the install. Since then, it has displayed the apple start up screen and thats it. If you power down the phone completely and reboot it it goes right back to that screen and hangs up. Worse yet, when I plug it into itunes it freezes my computer up until you unplug it again. I'm being escalted as we speak after 45 mins on the phone going thru basics with an Apple Tech. No luck there!

I had the similar problem. Found this suggestion on the web to reset iPhone 3G to it's original settings. You may have to restore your media and data files after resetting. It's the only way out for me since I can't get beyond the "Apple Logo" thingy, and I am too lazy to bring it down to the Apple Store.

Try this:
1.) Shut down the iPhone 3G.
2.) Start up iTunes
3.) Hold down HOME button on the iPhone 3G
4.) While keeping the HOME button depressed, plug in the Sync cable
5.) A message will pop up to ask if you want to reset.
6.) Just click YES and the reset process should start.

Good luck.

Simon

Here are your instructions from the website below.
Reset your iPhone Passcode:
If you have forgotten your iPhone's Passcode you will need to restore your phone via iTunes.
But first you have to put your phone into the restore mode which is a slightly fiddly process.
Plug your iPhone into your PC or Mac with the USB cable
Press and hold the power button at the top and then slide to power off the iPhone
Press the power button to power the iPhone on and keep it held while simultaneously pressing the home button
After a few seconds a yellow alert triangle will appear and the iPhone will say it is iPhone Restore Mode.
Open up iTunes and click on the Summary tab
Click on Restore to restore your iPhone. This will reset all your iPhone's setting to the factory defaults, including the Passcode. You should then follow the steps above to activate the Passcode with a memorable number http://www.knowyourmobile.com/appleiphone/apple_iphone_userguides/4684/how_to_password_protect_your_iphone.html Click on this link or copy and paste the complete link into your browser.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

I had the same problem just now with my iPhone 3G. It froze for like an hour and a half! I heard calls come in but wasn't able to answer because the screen wouldnt come up. I pressed the top clicker button and the main button for about 10 seconds and the apple logo came up (finallyyy). It took about another minute and then the screen came back up and prompted me for my passcode. I hope this can help you all!

I forgot my passcode to unlock my iphone

i forgot my passcode to unlock my iphone what do i do?

It depends on the severity and the settings you have given the iPhone and whether you have the computer that you synced your iPhone with... Here's the full explanation. I would recommend reading the second paragraph first, but the solution if you really forgot your password is in the first paragraph.
==If you have the computer you synced your iPhone with==
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device on the computer that was used to originally sync the iPhone or iPod touch so that you can reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced to the iPhone or iPod touch, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode but your data will not be present. Refer to "Updating and restoring iPhone and iPod touch software."

"If you enter the wrong passcode too many times, you'll see a message that says "iPhone is disabled" and to try again later. If you repeatedly enter the wrong passcode, iPhone or iPod touch will be disabled for longer intervals, before you can try again. After too many unsuccessful attempts, you won't be able to try again until you connect to the computer you normally sync with. Note that starting with iPhone 2.1 software, there is a setting to cause the device to erase itself after 10 consecutive incorrect password attempts. This setting is off by default. It  can be turned on by tapping Settings > General > Passcode Lock after you enter a correct passcode."
The full article can be found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212

==If you don't have the computer you synced your iPhone with==
If you don't have the original computer the iPhone synced with, the only solution is to force your iPod Touch into recovery mode and then restore it. You will lost all the data on the iPod Touch, but after this method is done, everything will work. You can find the steps to solving this problem here:

iPhone 3Gs shut off and will not turn back on.

Phone was fully charged. Took phone off charger to play a video I recoreded earlier, video started t play and then the screen went black, phone shut off. It will not turn on and I know the battery was almost fully charged (98-99%). Took it to the AT&T store, they looked at it, the manager said he tried everything and could not get it to turn on. He said he has never seen this before. They are receiving iPhones this afternoon and said they will replace it for me when they get one in. My problem is that I had pictures and a video that I had just taken (not synced yet) that will be lost. Any ideas??

I just had the same problem but while filming a video and then pressing stop. You need to "cold boot" (hard reboot) by pressing the home button (center round one) and the start button (top right button) at the same time. Hold both buttons down until you see the apple logo on the screen. Your data should be there. Always go to an Apple Store if you have problems in the future.

Download the latest iTunes to your computer and reset the iPhone. Then re-sync it.
Reset

To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds. During this time, a red "power off" slider may appear and the screen may go black, but do not release Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the Apple logo appears.
If iPhone won't turn on, or the display freezes or doesn't respond

  1. Press and hold the Home button for at least six seconds, until the application you were using quits.
  2. If that doesn't work, turn iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
  3. If that doesn't work, reset iPhone. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

More resets:
Try This:
1. Remove Sim Card
2. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until Apple logo appears
3. Replace Sim Card
4. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until normal phone screen appears.

Also, Try this:
1.) Shut down the iPhone 3G.
2.) Start up iTunes
3.) Hold down HOME button on the iPhone 3G
4.) While keeping the HOME button depressed, plug in the Sync cable
5.) A message will pop up to ask if you want to reset.
6.) Just click YES and the reset process should start.
