Crosley CDE6000 Electric Dryer Questions & Answers
Drum wont turn
check your belt and idler pulley. could also be the motor
How do i resat the dryer
Unplug it from the electrical outlet for 10 minutes or more, then plug it back in and press the Start/Cancel button.
My dryer wont turn on, the lights are blinking off and on but cant get the buttons to work
Typically, that would be caused by failure of a cheap chinese control board. In fact, failure-prone chinese control boards are at the heart of virtually all premature failures of modern appliances. They usually only last just long enough to span the warranty period.
There should be an electrical schematic diagram attached to the back of the unit. You may be able to use that to identify the faulty part. Don't be surprised if the replacement board costs alot more than it's size and simplicity might indicate.
How can i test my dryer to find out if the motor is bad
If the drum goes around, your motor is working.
If the drum doesn't go around, the belt could be off or broken, or the motor could be bad.
Try to listen for the motor starting up as you turn the dryer on. If it sounds like it is running (an initial 'bump' followed by a quiet hum), chances are it is a belt problem.
If you can't hear the motor running, or it is a loud buzz, or there is the smell of burning insulation or smoke, chances are your motor is bad.
It is also possible that the selector switch that controls everything is not turning the motor on (bad selector) or the overheat safety switch is malfunctioning, but these need to be tested by taking the dryer apart.
Why would my crosley dryer get really hot but the clothes don't get dry
If the dryer is getting hot (the heater element is working) but the clothes aren't drying, it suggests that there is insufficient air flow through the dryer. Remove the exhaust tube from the back of the dryer. With the tube removed and the dryer running, check for hot air (lots of it) flowing out the exhaust vent of the dryer. If there is good air flow, check the exhaust tube for lint build-up or a clog that is blocking the air from flowing through the tube. If there is no air coming out of the exhaust vent with the exhaust tube removed and the dryer running, it suggests that the problem is with the exhaust fan inside the dryer.
How do i check the heating element
unplug the dryer, get to the element, pull at least one of the wires off of the element, with a meter set to ohms say 20k,you'll see a 1 on the meter, touch the leads together and the 1 will change to anything else but 1,now touch one lead to one side of the element and the other lead to the other side and don't forget to pull one or both wires off the element,if you see 1 on the meter the element is bad, anything else it's good, that's it.this element is different but you do the same thing

Dryer not getting hot
This usually indicates that the heating element is burned out. To test, unplug dryer, access back, remove at least one of the two connections to the element (looks like the element in the oven of an electric stove), and measure the electric resistance of the element - if infinite or very high, the element needs replacing.
