Nintendo 64 Console - Page 7 Questions & Answers
Ok so when i turn on my N64 the power light comes
Make sure your system is hooked up correctly. This is the number one reason for a blank screen. To ensure all hookup connections are firm and correct, remove the AV cables and reinsert them with a slight twisting motion (this will help fully seat the connections). For more information about connecting the system, check the following hookup steps:
Audio/Video Cable to a TV
Audio/Video Cable to a VCR
Make sure you are using all licensed accessories with your system. Unlicensed products are not fully compatible with Nintendo systems and may not work correctly.
Make sure the system has power. If you don't see the red power light when you turn your system on, go to the No Power Light instructions.
Slide the Power Switch on the Control Deck to the OFF position. Remove the Game Pak and re-load it, pressing firmly to ensure it is locked in place. Slide the Power Switch on the Control Deck to the ON position. (Inserting the game with the Power ON will result in a blank screen.)
Check under the Memory Expansion door (on the top of the Control Deck) to verify that the Jumper Pak or Expansion Pak is still inserted. If one is not inserted, slide the Power Switch to the OFF position, insert the Jumper Pak or Expansion Pak and slide the Power Switch to the ON position. Simply pressing reset will not solve the problem. You must turn the power off and then back on.
If the above steps do not resolve the problem you are experiencing, there may be a problem in one of your hookup cables and not your system. Try purchasing a new connection cable (how to buy replacement parts). You can also try borrowing the cable from a friend to see if it solves your problem before purchasing a new item.
If this does not resolve the problem you are experiencing with your system, your system may need to be replaced. For more information on what options are available, please click here.
Nes instruction manual installation
Well eBay has the N64 console instruction booklet I don't use them because I know what to do with the old consoles I have been working with the old consoles for about 22 years now.
Wont turn on...
Well I think that it's dead then. Try another ac adapter to see if it makes a difference or not

N64 colors do not work when hooked up to Vizio TV.
You probably have the RCAs in the component video hookups. Its easy to confuse them as they are similar ports. They are usually red, blue, and green. Look for the yellow, white, and red hookups. Those are for RCA connections as they don't work in the component hookups for HD video. i.e. blue-ray, PS3 That will cause the video to look grey and grainy.
My 64 is not working on tv
The game cartridge contacts are probably just dirty and/or corroded. Clean em with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. The games should work fine. Mine is the same way cause its so old. Even my Super Nintendo does it. Unfortunately, you may have to do this every time before playing, but only if they don't work the first time.
2 n64's power on but no sound or video
the contacts that are in the n64 are probably burnt out in the back or the system is not reading the starter/expansion pak cuz mine did the same thing when the starter/expansion pak slot stopped reading.
Can't find the channel for my N64
Is your cable RCA, S-Video, or Coaxial? If it's coaxial, check and see if the channel is to 3 or 4. If it's RCA or S-Video, check which slot it's plugged into on your TV. Most likely, the cable's dead, as I've had to replace mine a good 4 times.
N64 game freezing
Well its the console thats making the burning smell becuase its a power supply failure warning or its over heating for this to happen. I had my N64 console for 14 years and never heard of this before. I has to be the console or the ac adapter then.
Need help to hook up nintindo
the big fat cord goes into big slot on the back of the system and the other end of the fat cord you plug it in and the smaller cord goes into the other slot and other end of that cord goes into back of t.v how i know this is because ive had a n64 for 7 yrs
Power turns on and then
Well it means that there is a bad capacitor inside of the console or a bad ac adpter if it flashes its red light and then beeps the GPU chip is broken then. to fix a bad GPU chip for the N64 console you need a heat gun and thermal paste and an old credit card type to make the paste evenly and to take off the execces glue.
