Fill it with vinegar and leave to soak overnight/for two nights if really bad.
Any parts which are impossible to fill with vinegar - lids/spouts, soak a cloth or tissue in vinegar and wrap/wedge into....and leave to soak overnight.

Ur thermal fuse just got BLOWN, if u have a knowledge to repalce it, u could buy the parts in any electronic shop. Just be sure u have the same temperature value!

I don't think the kettle would be able to whistle again when water boils because the overheating must have melted the whistle rubber and will have block the whistle passage.

What you have to do now is to remove the rubber completely and use the kettle without the rubber/bird whistle.

Or if you can get a replacement rubber, but I don't know how this would be possible because I don't know if its sold within your vicinity.

In summary, remove the melted rubber and continue using your kettle without it,. But you really need to take a close watch each time you use the kettle.

I do not understand why i must pay all I want to know is how to clean the greae from the Alessi non electric teapot so far I have tried 10 different produsts nothing works. thanks

Send it back under warranty and have it replaced for a new one.

The kettle in the illustration is designed for a hob and doesn't have a switch... There is an electric version available at what I consider a grossly inflated price of £218 in the UK. Like many other appliances, kettles used to be easily and cheaply repaired by any handy person but the arrival of the jug kettle and then the dreaded disc element made repairs more expensive than a replacement and they became a throw away item, especially as spare parts stopped being standard items and for most models either weren't available or were available but were priced not to sell. I have little doubt the kettle will have to be at least partly dismantled to discover the problem. I would like to know there are spare parts available for this kettle before I started taking it apart because plastic can be an unreliable material after regularly being heated for a while and the process of dismantling a mass produced item isn't always intuitive. It might be better to contact the manufacturer to check if they offer a repair service.
