log in to WRT54G2 router
By default the router's IP address is 192.168.1.1 so you need to make sure that your computer is connected on the router first with the cable. Make sure lights are lit up properly as well.
For you to be able to access the router setup screen, you need to OPEN IE and type on the address bar 192.168.1.1 no username and password is admin in lowercase.
Hope this works!

unable to write network settings to device - windows cannot save your network settings to the selected device? Not sure what we have done wrong
Which network settings are you trying to write? In general, try getting Network Magic. It's a free download and trial and can help with some Linksys/Cisco problems.
Also, you may try getting into the firmware itself. Use any web browser and enter the following IP address as your URL: 192.168.1.1. At that point you're directly accessing the settings on the router and should be able to make any changes you need. By the way, this only works if you're connected directly to the router via Ethernet cable.
