Wont allow me to connect 2 additional computers

Two methods to solve your problem:
Method 1:
(1) Using your currently connected and working computers, access the wireless router security page at 192.168.1.1 (page 8 of 44 from the WRT54G2 manual), default password "admin" (page 7 of 44 from the WRT54G2 manual)

You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view/print this file - free from www.adobe.com
(2) get the WEP or WPA password, and enter it into the wireless LAN (WLAN) settings on your 2 additional computers.

Method 2:
Alternatively, access the WEP or WPA key on one of your working PC, by
(1) make sure the printer is working, powered up and online.
(2) invoke "Network Setup Wizard"
(3) wind thru various steps (click-ing NEXT), then select "Print Network Settings"
(4) use the printed WEP or WPA key in the WLAN settings on your additional 2 PCs.

Lost password need to reset router and put in new

Hold the reset for 20 seconds then release it. Unplug it and hold the reset for another 20 seconds, without letting go of the reset plug the power back in, continue holding the reset for another 20 second. Release the reset and let the router sit for 2 mins. then set it up again. !!!***Warning***!!! This will set the unit to factory settings, it will retain none of you original setting so make sure you back those up as well.

TO GET THE WIRELESS PASSWORD


Step 1 : Connect - Router - Computer ( Wired )

Step 2 : open Router Setup by typing http://192.168.1.1 on the address bar of internet explorer

Step 3 : Default password is admin

Step 4 : Click wireless

Step 5 : Choose wireless security

Step 6 : Here you can find the Password

Step 7 : Try to connect with this password

Would like to set a password for my linksys

Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http:192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin

If you cannot login with the default password, then it was changed but you can reset the Linksys back to the default settings by pressing and holding the RESET button at the back of the router for 30 secs. with the power on.

You'll have to access the web interface of this router using your web browser.
From page 10 of the user manual, follow this link to access your web interface: http://192.168.1.1
The default password, if no one has changed it, is "admin" with no user name.

It sounds like you have your max amount of users reached. You need to go into your router and set the amount of users that can connect to the internet. Either via program on the computer or actually consoling in to the router.

do a reset, unplug it and plug it back in (power only) if it don't work, look for the reset button and press it.... refer to http://www.linksysbycisco.com/EU/en/products/WRT54G2 if you need help further if you don't have the manual.

There could be various reasons for your router's behaviour. Please try the following steps.

1. Restart the router by unplugging the power cable connected to the router and connect it back after 2 minutes.
2. Check after restarting it you see the signals. (check your wireless utility or windows utility to see if you see the signal).

The remaining steps depend on:
1. what you see in your Wireless connection utility
2. Lights glowing on your router
3. Are you the only one using the router
4. Is there any security configured in the router

I need to change my linksys routher password how

Hi Friend,

If you want to change the password for router login page then please follw the steps:
1. Click Start \ Run\ type cmd and hit enter
2. In the black window typ the command ipconfig and hit enter.
3. Note down the default gateway and close this window.
4. Open the web browser and type the default gateway and hit enter.
6. The default password is admin and leave the username blank.
7. In the router setup page click Administration
8. In the left pane you will see Router password. Type the new password and re-type it. Then click save settings and turn the oruter off for 30 seconds and then try to login with this new password.

If you want to apply security on your router, so that no one can use your network, then please follow the steps:

1. Open the web browser and type the default gateway and enter the password.
2. Click Wireless and then Wireless Security.
3. Select WPA Personal from the drop down of Security mode.
4.WPA Algorithm should be TKIP
5.Type any ten digit number as the Shared key and note it down and click save settings.

Turn the router off and switch it on. Now whenever you try to connect your wireless devices use the shared key as the security key.

I hope this will resolve the issue.

WRT4G2 VI wireless router. I was upating the

do a hard reset for the router by pressing the reset button for 10-20 seconds...
check whether its getting a dhcp address...
if it is still not getting an ip address, then try to assign a static ip address in the range of your router on your computer...

for example...
The default ip address of linksys is 192.168.1.1.............
then assign

IP address 192.168.1.5
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Default gateway 192.168.1.1

Also assign a static DNS
Primary DNS : 8.8.8.8
Secondary DNS : 8.8.4.4

Now try to open the GUI of your router...

I have a Linksys WRT54G2

Please make sure that Power, Internet and Wireless Light (or LAN light if trying to connect with Ethernet cable) is there on router if you are trying to connect it wireless .
And if only Power light is there only.Please try to power cycle the router ( turn off the router from power supply wait for a minute, plug the power supply back) and then again check the light status.
Even after this if same light status is there please try to reset the router ( there will be small pinhole button on the back side of router) just press it for 15 seconds and then release it.Wait for 2 mins and check the light status again.
It will fix your problem.

Please share the results.

In checking if you're computer is properly connected to the Linksys Router, you will need to perform four steps:
i. Checking the Physical Connection to the Router
ii. Checking the LEDs
iii. Checking the IP Address of the PC

Checking the Physical Connection to the Router

Make sure that the computer is connected to one of the four Ethernet ports of the router and the modem should be connected to the Internet port. For more instructions, click here.
Checking the LEDs

The Linksys router's LED lights will indicate the status of the connection. After connecting the broadband modem and the computer to the router, make sure that the LED lights are lit up. For more instructions, click here.
Checking the IP Address of the PC

The IP address of the computer is another indication that the computer is properly connected to the router. For instructions, click here.
Pinging the Router

Ping test helps trace the communication between the computer and the router. The computer sends packets to the router and in return the router sends out replies to validate the connection. In this example, our router IP address is "192.168.1.1."

Where to find security code

The security key is the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryption key that is configured in the router's wireless settings. You need to connect a LAN cable from your computer to your Linksys, open a browser and enter the router's configuration URL then login to the router then go to the wireless settings for this info or to change the wireless settings.

I lose the internet connection several times a day

Hi Friend,

Please refer to the link and upgrade the firmware of the router.

Enter the model number and hardware version of the router step by step.Download and save the firmware on the desktop. Open the router admin page by typing 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of the web browser. Enter the username and password (if any set by you), else type admin as password and leave the username blank. In the router setup page click Administration and then click Firmware. Click Browse and select the file from the desktop and click Upgrade.

Turn the router off for 30 seconds, swtich it on.

I hope this will resolve the issue.

Is there an instruction layout

What I have is not exactly a layout, but suggesting that pictures would help, click on this link here: Linksys Router Install Port Guide with Pictures
Same principle. Plug one end of the ethernet cable from your modem's ethernet port, then the other end goes to the port on your Linksys router with the yellow "Internet" sticker. The other ports are numberd 1-4. You may connect your computer directly from there.

Forgot wireless password

Default user is "admin" and password is "admin" or blank or "password"
if not works then reset your router.
Press RESET button it is in back side of router.
Press it for 10 seconds so all settings are defaults.
