I dont know where i find how to set up and change

You need to type 192.168.1.1 in your address bar as if you were going to google, but do not type anything else. This will get you to the routers setup files. You will have to look around once you get here, but it is in the security tab. Do not worry about messing anything up in there, if you get locked out of it, just press the little button on the back with the tip of a pen and it will reset everything back to original factory settings and you just have to start from scratch. If you write down everthing that you do as you go, you will figure it out. It's not hard, just time consuming because you are unfamiliar with it. Just like when you first learned windows. Good luck.

When i try to configure my linksys box i cant

My Linksys box has a username and password to get into it. By default it's admin and admin.
A lot depends on how badly you want into the box and what type of broadband connection you have. In my case, I have cable and if I press the reset button and power cycle both the modem and router, I'll be back on line. If you have DSL or a fixed IP address, you would have to do some configuring.

You kind of have to decide if you need to go that far. You might want to touch base with your broadband provider or whoever set the unit up. A DSL would have come with setup instructions with the account.

I lost my support CD

Router setup You do not have to use the cd. Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

When I try to conect

There is no need to buy a new router, just log in at the router's settings page using any web browser (for your router usually http://192.168.1.1, admin for user and nothing or admin for password), navigate to Wireless Settings / security settings and write down the WEP or WPA KEY that you can find here. This is the password that your new Ipad is asking for.

How can I find my password and security key ?

Please try the solutions below

couple of ways. You can reset your router, then it will default to factory settings and then it will delete your password and open itself up to not needing a password to get on your network. However, anyone can connect to your network, so you will have to enter into your networks menus and reset a password to prevent this, then set that password on all of the computers on the network now. You generally access your set up menu by typing your server IP address into your browser address bar, which is ususlly http://192.168.1.1

This is not all conclusive as some routers have other access methods, but the majority use the above. It will also require a User and a password and the default is usually admin and password or password1 for the default. If however, you have set a password then you definitely have to reset.

Reset is usually a small button , some recessed in a small hole that requires a tooth pick or un-bent paper clip to push into the hole and hold for 15 seconds with the power on the router. Sometimes turning the power off of the router for 2-5 minutes will cause it to reset.

You can also force the laptop(or any client of that server) that you are using and is connected to the internet to give you the english translation of the password. Click on your WiFi icon down in the right corner, A window opens, right click on the name of your network that is connected, click on properties, click on "show charcters." The network key(your password) will be revealed

Whenever im using the internet

Check you DSL LED on you modem or, if you are using satellite, check your downlink LED. It It should be on continuously - not flashing. If it is flashing, you will have to contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) or your telephone company ( if your DSL signal comes in on your phone line), or satellite service provider and ask them to find out why your internet connection is intermittent. This does not sound like a router problem.

HOW TO CHANGE THE PASSWORD IF YOU FORGOT THE ONE

In order to get your router back to the original settings, you must push in the reset button (usually on the back of the router) for somewhere between 10 and 30 seconds depending on the router. You may need a pin or something small to push in the button, because it can be recessed. Once you have reset the router, the username and password will be changed to the defaults, admin and password, respectively. One thing you must remember is that resetting the router will change all of the router settings back to the factory settings. This means you will lose all of the changes you made since you got the router. Make sure to write down any things you've changed, so you can change them back after the reset. Also, I recommend updating to the latest firmware after the reset.

From a browser enter 192.168.1.1
This should give you the web interface to your router.
Your interface should look something like this:

To login leave user id blank and use 'admin' as a password (default)

Note that this model has at least 3 different variants and particulars will vary:

I recently received a barnes

Try the following and reset your router to orginal settings.

To open the set up page of the router of the router , one of your computer should be able to go online through the router.
It could be a wired computer or wireless computer.
If it is a wireless computer then make sure that the computer is connected to your own wireless network.
Do not change any wireless settings on the router using a wireless computer.
OK ! Now you have a computer online through the router and you want to open the set up page of the router.

First step is check the IP address of the computer.
Check the IP address and the Default gateway on the computer.

For Windows XP

START ==> RUN ==> type in cmd in the RUN box==> click OK or Hit ENTER . You will see a black window that is a command prompt . In the black window type in " ipconfig " ==> and Hit ENTER on your key board .

For Windows Vista and Windows 7

click on START ==> type in cmd in the start search box ==> enter ==> you will see the black window. Type in " ipconfig "you will see a lot of information. Try to find out the local area connection IPv4 address .

Note down the Default gateway number.

For MAC OS

Click APPLE icon in the right top corner of the computer. Go to System Preferences ==> go to Network ==> you will find the option Built in Ethernet or Airport whichever is connected. If you go to that you will find the Ip address and router Address.

The default gateway is the IP address of your router.

This IP address of the router will be used to open the set up page of the router

Now you got the IP address of the router.Open the Internet Browser ( Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari )

In the Address bar of the browser Type the IP address of the router.

Do not type http:// or www just type in the IP address only.

It will ask you for the user name and the password of the router.

This is the User name and the password of the router and NOT the wireless password. On a wireless router, there are 2 passwords. One is to access the router and the other one is for the wireless network.

For most of the routers the default password will be " admin " . for some routers the default password is " password ". For Linksys router the default password is admin and no user name.
