That router must have got a lot of water in it and powered on thats why it has shorted and all the lEDs on it are glowing. Last resort before dumping it (beyond economical repairs) is to give it a factory reset.

Cant connect to linksys router

Most modern DSL modems operate as a NAT. If you plug directly into the modem and get an IP address that starts with 192.168, the modem is the NAT. Instead of connecting the modem to the WAN port on the router, connect it to one of the LAN ports.

To see what your IP address is, assuming Windows, open a command window. At the command prompt, type "ipconfig" (without the quotes) and hit Enter. It'll return your computer's IP address.

The simplest way to test this is to simply connect the modem to the #1 LAN port, using the supplied ethernet cable. Power the modem and router down. Fire up the modem. When it's active, fire up the router. Now connect and see what happens.

Forgot my linksys WRT54G2 router

Wasn't it taped to the bottom of the router :-)

The key is set by the router installer. There is a login and password (by default admin and password) that gets you to the router setup web page. From there, the Wireless security type and key is entered.

When you first take the router out of the box, you plug a network cable into one of the 4 ports, turn on a PC, and go to the default IP address (usually 192.168.1.1) of the gateway. It opens up a box that logs you into the web setup page where you specify how the router works. A lot of people forget to change the router password. That's not good, because anybody with access to your network can change the router password and you then have to get out the paper clip and reset the router if you ever want to get back into it.

Check your installation manual or Cisco/Linksys website for a manual and setup instructions if you can't get into yours.

Its not accepting my usename or passowrd, how do I

Try hitting the tiny reset button in the back; it is very small and you will probably need a pencil or paper clip to press it. This SHOULD reset the password, but if this doesn't fix it, you will have to call your ISP(Internet service provider) and they can fix it for you.
