Lens error

The manual of the camera does not give any solution to this problem. However, I have successfully fixed a canon with a similar problem. Make sure the camera is in "on" mode. Put, like, middle finger on the lens-housing, apply some light pressure and turn the camera off. With a little luck the gears that drive the lens should re-engage and return to their original position. I hope you have the same luck I did. Otherwise it could be an expensive repair.

I have a Nikon COOLPIX S230 camera and have not

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Nikon Transfer or Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Nikon D3000 battery won't charge when plugged into

It's not supposed to. In fact, connecting your camera to your computer will drain the battery faster since the camera has to use juice to communicate with the computer (even if only to say it has nothing to say). You need to take the battery out of the camera and put it into the supplied charger in order to charge it.

Memory card write protect

SD/SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

How do I open the dor to change battery?

Push the latch toward the back of the camera, then push the entire door toward the end of the camera, then the door will flip up. See the illustration in the "Insert the Batteries" section of the manual (page 12 in my copy).

My coolpix l18's lense will not retract. It says "lense error"

hi there, i am sorry but there is no reset button that can fix this problem. the gears on the lense have been dis lodged and needs to be reposition. the camara would have to be picked down completly for the lense to be removed and this is nothing you can do unless you know what you are doing. once re-posistioned the error code will go away and your camara will work as normal.you will need a technition and i cant do it for you because i am all the way i the caribbean (barbados to be exact) good luck and let me know if you get it repaired please.
