We have a Nostalgia Electric
Are you sure it is not a Nostalgia RKP-630? Does it look like this?
If so then it will pop 1 gallon of popcorn. Use an oil to popcorn ratio of 1 to 4. Try 1/2 cup of popcorn with 2 tablespoons of oil. Put your oil in the popper and then put in 3 kernels. When you hear them pop put in the rest of the corn. Do not use butter or margarine as your oil. As soon as you hear the popping stop for 10 seconds flip it so the popcorn falls out. You may have to adjust the amount of corn & oil for the size of the pot.

I have a popcorn machine
Hi, you actually guessed right, once any of you appliances that is meant to generate heat (examples like pressing iron, electric cooker, microwave) comes up but fails to generate heat during use, it's definitely the heating element that is bad...
All you have to do is change it.
Take care

We had purchased this machine New a bout 3 years
Most likely the problem is one of the following:
1. Your Heating Element went bad and needs replacing.
2. The On/Off Switch for the Kettle has gone bad.
3. A wire has come loose.
Since you are already out of the warranty period, if you have an electrician in the house, they could unplug the popper, remove the top dome and inspect the switch, look for loose wires, etc.
