Nostalgia Electrics KPM-508 Popcorn Maker - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Will not heat up
That is a thermostat. it should have continuity at room temp, and open at popcorn popping temps. There are no replacement parts for this manufacturer.

Will thermostat stop kettle from overheating and blowing thermal fuse
The thermostat built into the kettle stops the kettle from heating at a prescribed temperature. usually around 425 F. This is hot enough to smoke and cause instant burns, but is the required temp for popping popcorn.
I do not know of a "thermal fuse" built into popcorn machines. Mechanical thermo stats are not flawless. they can and do malfunction, either too cold or too hot. the model popper you have is not adjustable, or repairable.
If you are tripping a electrical circuit breaker that is a different problem not related to kettle heat. It is a symptom of an overloading problem of your outlet, or a ground fault in the popcorn popper.

Wiring schematics
There are no wiring diagrams for this manufacturer.
General wiring practices are that the Hot wire(black) goes to the thermostats, and the neutral wire( White ) is attached to the heat element for the return.
Switches are on the Black wires to break the circuit before power reaches the item it is controlling. A white wire on a switch is for the return from the light in the switch.

Will not heat up and pop
Your power cord I would follow into the machine and hunt for a broken wire or a blown fuse possibly. Most pop corn makers are just about like a coffee pot. They have a klixon to control the temp and a couple of bullet fuses in line to prevent over heating. All of which is loacted on the base of the kettle. I wish I could be there to help ya get that popcorn popper working. Feetball season is nearly upon us.

most likely the thermal fuse blew... Ohm it out and if its open then replace it. Take yours off, take it to your local Radio Shack

Not heating
I actually just had a pleasant experience contacting Hellman Group, (The manufacturer of Nostalgia Electric popcorn machines). I called the main number, pressed 1 for customer support, and after 3 tries (got an answering machine the first couple of times), I got someone in customer service who was able to help me get the part I wanted.
