Victor 1220-4 Calculator Questions & Answers
Victor 1260-2 will power on, give a very short hum/buzz then go quiet and not work.
It sounds like there may be an issue with the motor that drives the paper feed mechanism. The hum/buzz that you hear when you turn it on could be the motor trying to start but failing to do so. The tightness of the paper feed could also be related to the motor issue.
The green "E" on the screen likely indicates an error. Without more specific information about the error code, it's difficult to determine the exact issue. However, it's possible that the error code is related to the motor or paper feed issue.
If you're comfortable doing so, you may want to try opening up the machine to see if there are any obvious issues with the motor or paper feed mechanism, such as a loose or broken part. If you're not comfortable doing this or if you're unable to identify the problem, it may be best to take it to a professional for repair.
My Victor 1560-6 adding machine is still printing light even after changing the ribbon
Here are some potential issues that could be causing the problem:
- Worn or damaged print hammer: The print hammer is the part of the machine that strikes the ribbon to transfer ink onto the paper. Over time, the print hammer can become worn or damaged, which can cause it to strike the ribbon with less force, resulting in light printing. If you suspect this is the problem, you will need to replace the print hammer.
- Dirty or misaligned print hammer: Even if the print hammer is not worn or damaged, it can become dirty or misaligned over time, which can affect its ability to transfer ink onto the paper. Clean the print hammer with a soft cloth and make sure it is properly aligned with the ribbon.
- Worn or damaged ribbon guide: The ribbon guide is the part of the machine that helps guide the ribbon over the print mechanism. If it is worn or damaged, it can cause the ribbon to slip, resulting in light printing. You may need to replace the ribbon guide.
- Misaligned or dirty print mechanism: The entire print mechanism may need to be cleaned or realigned to ensure that it is making proper contact with the ribbon and paper. Consult the user manual or seek professional assistance to properly realign or clean the print mechanism.
- Electronic malfunction: If the issue is not related to any physical components, there may be an electronic malfunction that is causing the problem. Seek professional assistance to diagnose and repair any potential electronic issues.

The red ink no longer is visible, what can I do
I can't give you a definitive solution without knowing the model of your calculator, but my first inclination is to suggest you replace the ribbon or whatever the calculator uses for an ink source.
