Run Installation Wizard..
Yes. This means to say that you need to install all software that came with the modem, contained in a disc before connecting (installing) USB cable or anything else. After installation of the software and computer is restarted you can now then connect all peripherals for modem connection.

Power light
you ned to check if the moddem is working properly.
go to start, run, type in ipconfig, use the ip address from the modem, and make a ping test.
this way you will realize if your modem is working ok.

Modem models need to be same//
no, you can just go ahead and have it changed if it's still under warranty... and it really doesn't matter if it has a different model number.... as long as it's the same model of the modem, westell F90 modem... however, if you start to use and you need to connect it with a router, it needs to be configured properly or else it won't work and maybe destroyed, okay!!!!

I m using broad band.
Well,
with any broadbank connection, you can surf and talk at the same time... all you have to do is to make sure that the filter is installed on the phone line and that the splitter/2way pin is installed on the telephone wall jack... dsl cable should not be filtered.

Westel 6100F
Ted, If you have checked all of your filters one by one and they are ok, I had the same problem. I even ran what they call a Home Run wire which is a direct line from your modem to the outside box and that did not work. After talking to numerous Techs. I was told it was the modem itself, if yours is less than a year old they should send you another one. I purchased a new one at Walmart for $69 that has that has a router built into it for my wireless laptop. It has the Verizon logo on the box and within ten minutes I was connected and havn't had the problem since.
Good Luck, Bob L.

After router reset, no connectivity
yes, you need to setup your internet again.
Use the CD provided.
If you dont have the cd,
go to your modem's home page (usually type "192.168.1.1" in Internet explorer) and look around until you see user name and password. enter all of your info there. if you dont have the user name, password, etc., call your internet service provider. they will give it to you.
hope this helps

Connecting modem via ethernet cable
I'm not an expert in window based units but since it worked with Vista OS and not with XP. Sounds like you might try re-installing XP again. Take note on any windows that refer to the ethernet port during installation. It is likely you might of hit "next" without reading all the text. I know I have in the past. I changed over to mac and I know longer have any problems only at work but give then I give it to the IT Dept and wait and wait and wait.

Bell south internet
Sounds like a dial out problem. Talk with your local telphone service and try getting a service call to check your line.
