Getting Riser Bars or simply flipping the stem over or getting one with a different rise and reach might give you the added height you need. If you LIKE the handlebars, the stem is the best and least-invasive option as most new ones come with front loaders (detachable front caps) that allow replacement without stripping components off one side of the handlebar. In minutes a Bicycle Shop could swap any number of them onto your bike for you to try.
A reputable Bicycle Shop would have fit the bike to you before you took it home.

Well if you mean what is twenty inch, its the wheel. The wheel diameter (from one point on the rim through the center and to the other side) is twenty inches.
I dont know how to
I am not very familiar with pegs, but I presume that you just remove the bolts inside the pegs. Use a wrachet with an extension. The nut should be 5/8 inch, or in metric 15 mm. They are the same. The pegs should then slide off. Replace the nuts because they hold the wheels on.
If I was wrong about something give your local bike shop a call and ask them for advice or even bring it to them.
When I shift it's not
If it used to work and the cables are new then the cabels streached as normal you need derailer adjustments. If you have had it a while, and recently fell then you bent your derailer hanger take it to a bike shop to be straitened by a pro.. If it is a new bike and never worked at all then you need some derailer adjustments. You can adjust your derailer your self IF you know what you are doing. Otherwise go to a bike shop and have them do it.

How do you get the
Get the rim / tire of the frame. Let all the air out of the tube, Using two flat blade screw drivers, put them between the rim and tire about 3 inches apart, (be careful not to puncture the tube) Pry the tire over the rim, leave one in place and move the other about 3 more inches and pry the tire over the rim again, keep moving around the rim until the side is off. Reach in and pull the tube out, fish the stem through the hole. Finish pulling the tire off the rim, you can use liquid soap to help make things easy. Put the rim back together the same way.
