Our coffee tastes just awful

remove tank from machine seperate lid from tank (remeber where everything goes and be very careful not to tear a gasket) descale with a descaling liquid or clean out what ever foriegn substance is in tank. If tank is clean then i would make sure it is getting hot enough when you brew as brewing to low will make coffee taste awful. also make sure you have a sprayhead on the machine to properly saturate all the grounds.

Very little water out when brewing

Hello markh525, Yes the tube is replacable. I do not have the part number off the top of my head but if you were able to search google for that exact coffee maker you should be able to come across it. If you feel like doing a project then all you will need is the corect gauge tube. If you are able to take the tube to a plumbing store they should have plenty laying around. If this is not the case please write back and i would gladly help.
Please post what you do and how you did it I look forward to your posts

We have a Bunn vpr

The bunn VPR is a gravity brew system what you put in if the tank is full is what you will get out. So pour water in until it flows out the sprayhead, then turn machine on, when it heats up fill up a carafe with water (1.9Liters) and put in your filter with water and brew. It is a good idea to pour water in every morning to make sure tank is full especially if you are not using brewer on the weekends.

Coffee tastes funny. does machine need to be

Yes, in this type of machine, put a little bit of vinegar and water in top and run a couple times through machine, with of course filter basket on, not with filter or coffee, and brew a couple times. Use 25percent to water ratio, do this twice then do it again, twice with only mineral water. Then make a pot normal, and let me know how coffee taste now. Thanks Mr Bean Man

  • The sprayhead may be clogged. Check the round disk (sprayhead) above the brew funnel. The holes in this part must always remain open. If they are clogged, remove the sprayhead and clear the holes using a toothpick. Always unplug the brewer before deliming or cleaning the sprayhead.
  • The brewer could be clogged with mineral deposits. See the Deliming Instructions in the Manual. NOTE: The frequency of deliming depends on the mineral content of your water.

That is one of the best coffee makers ever.It will last for a long time.Yes it is ok to leave it unplugged.Do not ever leave an empty pot on a burner that is on.Once a month, put 1 cup of white vinegar where the water goes, and run the machine. This will clean the inside. After you use the vinegar, run one pot of clean water through the machine.

Bunn VPR Series Coffee Maker

This machine has a reservoir that holds about 2.5 pots and keeps them at brewing temperature. Therefore you should pour in 3 pots (with a pot in place under the filter basket) until water flows from the basket. Then, and ONLY then, it is safe to plug in the brewer. If you plug in the brewer BEFORE filling the reservoir you will burn up the heating element and will have to have it replaced.
After the initial filling and heat up (about 20 minutes) you are ready to pour through a pot of COLD water through and brew.

The water is backing up

Sounds like the grind is too fine and it is not flowing through fast enough, try adjusting the grind on the coffee or remove the sprayhead and clean the small holes using a paperclip.
