but the best way to check how much it holds is fill the butter dish with water and use a cup mesure to find the amount and then experament with the level of finnished that you want. for me a thrid of the butter dish is all that i need

you can open it but not from the top. unscrew the bottom and take out the heater and clean out the Popper without using any water or soap just a toothbrush and cloth. it will take more then one clean out to get it to stop smoking (took me 3 times). put it back together place a plate under it to catch butter and run it for 10 min. to get hidden butter to melt and seep out of hidden spaces then repeat cleaning.

Welcome to FixYa, If my solution meets your approval, I'd appreciate a good ranking. Regarding the popper, I read the owner's manual for this model and it is a very simple machine. I had thought that there might me some type of interlock or switch that might be at fault for the malfunction but they don't. It seems that the unit is just filled with popcorn, plugged in and within two or three minutes you should have popcorn.

• If you haven't already, try plugging the unit into another outlet.
• If the unit is in an area with a G.F.I. outlet (these are rectangular and have a reset switch that can pop and make the outlet dead) check the outlet and if needed reset it by pushing the red button back in.

The good news is that Presto is a very old company with a great reputation for customer service. Their warranty is 2 years, but if you explain the situation and the unit is more than two years old, they may repair it for nothing. You would be responsible for the shipping. In fact, their warranty says to return it and just indicate the date purchased. They don't even require a receipt. They can be contacted at:

I have a dual basket 12 Qr fryer had taken out of the box to use it.Plug it in and the light won't come on.The reset is set.

No, Deep Fryers are dangerous so cords are kept purposely short to prevent accidents. Also 1800 watts draws a lot of amps, so extending the cable can cause the cable to heat up. Move the fryer to an outlet, or have a new outlet installed where you want the fryer. Your island would benefit from extra built in sockets.
