Save an InDesign Markup (IDML) document Note: To open the InDesignCS4 document in InDesign CS2, open the exported INX file in InDesignCS3, export to INX again, and then open the exported file in InDesign CS2.Make sure that all versions have been updated.


In some cases you may wantto save an InDesign in interchange markup format. It’s especiallyuseful to save in this format when you open a QuarkXPress or PageMakerpublication in InDesign, when you open a document created in a previousversion of InDesign, or when you’re experiencing problems with your document,such as not being able to delete color swatches.

1. Choose File > Export.
2. From the File Type (Windows) or Format (Mac OS)menu, choose InDesign Markup (IDML).
3. Click Save.

You can open the saved IDML file in InDesign CS4 butnot in any previous version of InDesign. To save a file for usein InDesign CS3, choose the InDesign CS3 Interchange (INX) option.

Convert PageMaker documents InDesign can convert document and template files from Adobe PageMaker 6.0 and later. When you open a PageMaker file, InDesign converts the original file information to native InDesign information. InDesign files are saved with an .indd filename extension.

• If the PageMaker file or its linked graphics are located on a network server, floppy disk, or removable drive, it may not open as expected if an interruption in data transfer occurs. To prevent data transfer problems, copy documents and their links to the hard disk, preferably in the same folder where the PageMaker publication is stored, before opening them in InDesign.
  
• You may want to use Save As in PageMaker to clear unnecessary hidden data.
  
• To ensure that all links are maintained, copy all linked files to the same folder where the PageMaker publication is stored.
  
• Make sure that all necessary fonts are available in InDesign.
  
• Repair broken graphics links in the PageMaker publication.
  
• If you have a problem converting a large PageMaker document, convert portions of the PageMaker file separately to isolate the problem.
  

If you cannot open a corrupt PageMaker document in PageMaker, try opening it in InDesign. InDesign can recover most documents that PageMaker cannot open.

First, check for a stuck key such as the Caps Lock, Control, Alt, Shift, Tab, or Function key. Check the keys on both sides of your keyboard. Also check to see if you have a stuck button on your mouse.

try downloading the full CS2 pack..that will really help u and some time when a error comes like this...the program is installed and u can even try using it

Try first Uninstalling the program from control panel and reinstalling the Adobe suite after restarting the computer.

If it did not work, try doing a system restore to some times ago, before you had the problem , then reinstall CS2

If you still have problems, it may be an operative system problem.

I’ve resolved the ‘save as’ issue by deleting the \Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Adobe\Workflow\ folder. Indesign recreated the folder on next startup.
