Start by checking the reset button.

The light indicates a restriction, a full bag or clog or something restricting the airflow

There are clips on the inside of the wheel hold the wheel on. You can break the old ones to remove it. The new one will snap in place.

The 200 model does not have one

First check the reset button on the back

There is a connector that has two little tabs that must be pushed in so it can be removed to insert the hose back in.

If the noise is not something in the brush roll or the brush roll bearings or shaft is damaged the impeller may have something stuck in it or it may be broken.

Remove the bottom plate screws & bottom plate. Remove the screws holding the motor and fan assembly to the nozzle housing. Remove the screws Holding the fan housing to the motor to gain access to the fan. Remove the bolt holding the fan on the motor shaft to remove the fan.

Your 8850 is probably over 15 years old, almost all parts are interchangeable with the 8955 or 8925 model made today. You may need to replace the pedal if the catch has worn or broken. There is no wire on the. Pedal assembly but there is a spring that goes on the pedal shaft to make the pedal spring back after you push on it.

If you are facing the back of the vacuum the reset button will be towards the bottom of the vacuum.

Filter is plugged maybe but burning smell is something over heating like a motor which should be serviced by a pro.

On the back at lower left. Its a little white button. It should be beside a tag that says "Reset Button"

Depends on which model you have. If it's a red light it might be your full bag indicator. If it's glowing red you might have a clog somewhere .

Get a new belt. If that doesn't take care of it, replace the rubber motor mount and metal pivot. Your vacuum is probably close to 20 years old and has some worn parts.

It might be a bad bearing in the brush roll or the hall sensor is squealing. I recommend taking it to your local dealer to have it checked. Failure to fix it properly could cost more in the long run.
