Simply click on My Computer and see if the DVD is being read...if so double click on it.

You can navigate to My Computer (Right click on it) / Properties / Hardware / Device manager / DVD drives / Right click on DVD drive listed / Properties / Region and make sure its the correct region.

NB = You only get one go at altering so only do it once or not at all. (If you try it more than once it will be rendered useless)

Also try clicking on My Computer / Right click on DVD drive letter / Autoplay / drop blind and select "mixed content"

Go to start, programs, control panel, and then to the uninstall/install programs wizard. I can't describe what you will see exactly without knowing the version and setup of your operating system.

If for some reason you cannot see Printmaster listed in programs when you try to unistall, go to start and then to your print master program entry.

Often, programs have an uninstall built in. If it doesn't, you can leave comments for me during the ratings process and I will answer any questions you many have.

I am guessing that your new computer has windows vista on it. That may be the reason Printmaster 12 will not install. Certain programs or their installations are not compatible with Vista.

I'm not sure what errors you are getting, and I am assuming you are running Windows Vista, so again I'm just guessing.

You could try to launch the setup program manually and using compatibility mode by following these steps:

1. Insert your installation disk.
2. Click the start button

3. Click on Computer
4. Right click on the drive containing your installation CD
5. Select Explore from the menu.
6. Find the Setup or Install file in the list.
7 Right click on it.
8. Select Properties.
9 Select the Compatibility tab at the top.
10. check "Run this program in compatibility mode for"
11. In the drop down menu select windows xp
12. check "disable visual themes"
13. Check "run this program as administrator" (if it is available)
14 click OK

15 now double click on the setup/install program.

That usually means that you have a wide screen monitor by being driven as a 4:3 aspect ratio monitor, causing images to stretch horizontally. Make sure you have the correct display driver and the resolution is set to the monitor's native resolution. If you are not sure what the native resolution is, please post the exact model number of your monitor, I will look it up for you.

First I would uninstall the program again.
Then go to start, search and look for PMUSERS.dat and delete it.
Restart your computer
It is also a good thing to temporaily turn off any antivirus software before installing also. Many programs like this Broderbund product do not install completely with the antivirus software on.
Then reinstall the program and it should run ok.

Most programs like this leave behind "junk" files or folders with some information in them.

Try uninstalling it again, then go to the C:\ drive and look for any folders that it might have left behind.
Then go to Start do a search for PMUSERS.dat and delete it.

where is there main website or what are the requirements for this application - was it designed for windows 98 or what exactly ??

You need the CD installer for it to work because some of files needed already lost. You need to install & uninstall to completely delete it in your computer

If you have the disc.......look for the uninstall file.......or just delete it in your program files...let me know

sounds like you have a scratch on your disc or you might need to replace your disc drive because it's not fast enough.

It is a large and complicated program. I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling with all other proggys including virus control turned off. Make sure you turn off proggys that have a little icon in the lower right corner. Make sure that you use the right discs for installing and program and don;t remove them too soon. Good luck.

CLEAN INSTALL needed here.
Try un-installing again, but this time after the un-install, shut down completely for at least 30 seconds, and then restart.
This releases "Locked files" for deletion
Then do a search for 'all files and folders' - search for both Broderbund and then Printmaster, with the options "Search system folders", "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search subfolders" checked. Delete all of those files found.
You should do this search and delete whenever you un-install any programs. It will remove lots and lots of leftover junk files and corrupted files taking up room on your hard drive. It will also give you a "clean install" when you reinstall or install an updated program. (Do this ESPECIALLY when updating to a NEW anti-virus programs and “Internet Security Suite” programs such as McAfee or Norton etc.)
BEFORE RE-INSTALLING Printmaster
Download and install "Registry Mechanic" then do the updates prior to running it and removing anything for the first time. This will get rid of all your current Registry errors, prior to installing or reinstalling.

Question edited for clarity. Question moved to Broderbund Graphics Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE Choose Task Manager That will show all instances of the program being open. Did print shop 3 work properly in win 7? If so you should never have updated. See all the grief it has caused you? Go back and install the 3.0 version and leave well enough alone Or maybe that program is not compatible at all with your OS.I have mo bo's that will not load XP but will work fine with anything prior to that. Computers are unpredictable and down right ornery at times but we need them so have to play by their rules.
