Sorry, no answer for you 19 days later, but I wonder how many others have read this and wondered what part of "the unit" actually is that's not working??? Really, providing some more details may help get a few suggestions at least if there is anything to add, and have you tried contacting the manufacturer???.

I will outline steps you can take to try and resolve this issue.

1)Update the MGPS with latest software. You can find software updates for Lowrance products on the following page.

After you update the software and you still can't acquire a sat signal, I would recommend a reset of the device. First a soft reset which will retain your GPS data and way points. If that does not work then a hard reset which will delete saved data and restore it to factory defaults.

Soft reset
-Turn unit off
-Press and hold the PAGES key
-Press and hold the PWR key
-Release both buttons when the USA map appears

Hard reset
-Turn unit off
-Press and hold the ZIN&ZOUT Keys at the same time
-Press and hold the PWR key
-Release both buttons when the USA map appears

Make sure all the connections at the back of the unit are tight. If it still doesn't respond try a new puck.

Question edited for clarity. The first thing to check is the fuse to the unit. The could be a fuse block for accessories on the boat, or it could be an inline fuse to the unit itself or both. The pull all the plugs from the rear of the unit and check for corrosion. Spray with WD40 and replace the plugs carefully and tighten the fixing screws evenly. If that doesn't fix it, it may be the transducer, but you should still get a picture for chartplotting. Quits working or stops reading the bottom? THE transducer is the culprit. Make sure it stays in contact with the water when running... BUT - NOT too deep in the water so as to cause water flow disturbance!!!

Wrong, if it was set-up properly it would not lose depth. Dealer is F.O.S., ... or incompetent!!

The model Elite 5x from Lowrance is a bit out dated, I currently have one on my boat, That model would require GPS signal to be able to read MPH unfortunately it does not. Not sure if they made a GPS puck for that model. That wire lead set can and probably is being used on a few different models that support that function. Hope that helps.. BTW I have had mine since 2013 and still works great. There is a GPS speedometer available through LOWE boats with 4 INCH bezel. I am a LOWE boat dealer, General Manager at Beacon Marine in Junction City KS.

A transducer does not give "colors".. the unit its plugged into provides the colors.. 50khz for deep water.. 200khz for shallow water.. A transducer simply sends and receives signals to and from whatever is on the bottom of the lake...

For deep water you will want to run the lowest hertz setting. For example, if you have the option for 80hZ or 600hZ, then the 80hZ would be for deep water and the 600hZ would be for shallow water.

Reset use a soft reboot. Or hard reset make sure you back up all your settings on fish finder with chip or home computer. OK guys so the first thing you wanna do when resetting your unit whether it's soft reset or hard reset we're gonna start with a soft reset which is gonna save any GPS data anything like that so we're gonna head over hold the Power & Page button press the power button we're going to go over and press power button but I'm at the unit but up until you see the warning screen where you have to except the depth on reset Can see we still have our Saved waypoints. OK now I'm gonna show you how to do a hard reset again turn the unit off you should always use the power key never just flip the main power switch to off then press and hold the plus minus key as well as the power key let go of the power key keep holding plus minus until the warning screen comes up in a hard reset your going to delete all data on this year it's gonna be like we just bought it went to the store and bought it and cam home with know data whatsoever no settings nothing OK I warning screen has came up we can let go of her buttons and press except start demo. OK now I'm gonna show you how to do a hard reset again turn the unit off you should always use the power key never just flip the main power so that our unit is off then press and hold the plus & minus key as well as the power key don't let go with the power key holder plus minus until the warning screen comes up and a hard reset is going to delete all data on this year it's gonna be like-you just bought it went to the store and bought it and brought it home no data whatsoever no settings nothing OK or warning screen has came up we can let go over buttons and press except start demo now.
