No, they want the display. Transducer is most likely OK. If the chip is damaged, reset is no help. I am not aware of a way to reset this unit, sorry.

You might have air bubbles trapped on surface of transducer. Use soap on it so water sticks to surface, no wax, oil, or grease.
If transducer is mounted inside the boat, you have air trapped between it.

The shallow water sensitivity adjustment is set too far to an extreem. Center the adjustment, then recalibrate at the dock.

Check the battery power at the unit with a DC volt meter, and also use the meter's AC setting across the power post on unit. If AC volts are above a tenth of a volt, the wires to battery may be to small, not allowing enough current to drive the transducer and electronics in unit.

If this unit has worked before, and suddenly looks upside down, you are most likely seeing a display with missing or defective sigments. There are 7 segments needed to make number from 0 to 9. When a segment goes bad, you will see something different.
Sometimes the internal connections to the LCD display are dirty or corroded.

Hello geld1. Your problem is the transducer, cable or connector. Check transducer with an ohm meter, flex the cable while ohming the restance shouldn't change. The location and mounting of the transducer could be the main problem. Use the the correct gel film including a secure postion support.

I believe it is the same model. Even if it is different, it will probably work if it has the same type of plug.

To my knowledge uniden have predominantly been in communication I go for the more mainstream brands in sounders.

I'll be honest with you Michelle, the radio is ancient. I saw a used one for sale here: https://edsgoodstuff.com/edscart/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=5942 and it went for $25. I don't think it's worth putting much into it. Sorry to have been the bearer of bad news. -Steve
