Need bigger prop with same pitch as old one

Hi!
Minn Kota doesn't supply any other props than the stock ones for a reason....if you install a larger prop, it takes more power to turn it at the same speeds. More power (amp draw) means more heat....more heat means blown electronics. Be careful, in their warranty they state that installing an aftermarket prop will void the warranty. For good reason too! I've seen the damage that can occur.
Best of luck

My trolling motor maxxum 74# thrust feels like i

Here's a schematic for your motor:
Maxxum 74 Bowmount
I suspect the the bearings and cups are damaged and binding the tubes. Have a look at key #'s95, 78, 58, 59, 78A, 79. as these are the actual brgs and cups.
Good luck on your repair!

Hard foot pedal

On the base of the foot pedal there is a tensioner for the cable. Try loosening or tightening that first. If you still have the manual from when you bought it, it is explained in deatil in there. It's a common issue - not to worry!

Minnkota maxxum 70 has half the thrust is had before

Sounds like a bad connection somewhere. I would take it to a authorized dealer for repair if it's still under warranty. Can get a bit tricky to repair yourself unless you're comfortable with soldering.

You should only use the MOM (or momentary) setting when using the push button the foot pedal. Con will just keep the motor running and your foot control will only allow for direction and speed!

I have a minn kota 42pd/c. boat shop installed

It is needed. I usually install 3 amp fuses. It sounds like you have a short somewhere. I would trace the wiring and make sure it did not get the sheath cut and is possibly contacting the boat. I always install a fuse and that eliminates the threat of a fire. There is a reason that the fuse is blowing and if you remove it then you move the problem straight to the battery and you will most likely see smoke. Also if you dont install the fuse the equipment factory warranty will be void. You really just need to check out the wiring carefully. If there is no problem with the wiring then there is a problem with the unit and should be exchanged.

The foot control speed slide is erratic it will stop sometimes

The potentiometer that varies the speed is probably dirty. Try spraying some "electrical cleaning solvent" into the pot as you move the control. If this doesn't help, you will probably have to replace the pot if you can find one or replace the speed control.
Good luck.
