The Endura 40 is a 12V motor. To get off a bit cheaper go to a place that sells car batteries and get a sealed maintenance free battery.

You will need a 100 to130 amp hour deep cycle marine battery. Check prices of many brands in your area. (WalMart, Autozone, boat dealers,ect.)

It gives an exploded view of the entire assembly as well as names and part numbers for each part. It's all I needed to order parts & repair mine. It is even done in such a way as to illustrate how it comes apart and goes together.

First is check for loose connections on cables and so on. Hopefully it is just a bad hookup. Loose wire, corrosion, nice easy stuff to find and fix.

If it just stopped and after that point you didn't see any life at all then I would think the controller board inside had failed. This controls or varies the speed of the motor. Unfortunetly thats going to be a shop job.

The good news is you should have a two year warrenty on that. So if you contact minnkota they should tell you where to drop it off to get fixed or replaced. The minnkota web page is www.minnkotamotors.com You can look at your warrenty and supoprt info from there.

That should get you fixed up.

the first thought for me is that things are heating up due to too much amperage being drawn by the motor or a loose connection.you will needs to check the specs on that motor to tell and need to know what normal readings are which minkota will gladly supply you.
but ..cause it happens to more than one ..it means that the switches you use..are not fit for the amperage this motor is working with ..Call the support (number is on the motor) ..and see what tip they recommend...

I had the same problem tonight. I wound up getting it off by appling a diagional pressure to the prop. That held the shaft screw. Then my Dad turned the wing nut with a neddle nose pliars conter clockwise and it came right off.

My problem and probably yours too is once inside there is a pin holding the prop to the shaft that was broken. I don't know how to get the new pin back in since it is inside the prop with no access from the outside.

The Endura 30 draws 30 amps at the highest setting (5), so it'll run 100/30 - 3.33 hours with a fully charged 100AH battery. At setting (4), it only draws 15 amps, so it'll run 100/15 = 6.6 hours. At the lowest setting, it draws 3 amps, and should run 33 hours.

call 800 number on head minn kota they are very helpful and will fax, email or mail you anything you need.

have you called the dealer or returned to the store your wife bought it from. they should be the ones to warrenty the motor. if she bought it used then you need to buy the necessary parts from a suitable store and move on. minn kota is a good company and they make a good product. i do understand your frustration. you might ask for a manager at minn kota if your wife brought it new and she if you can successfully get a better answer on an appeal. good luck.

probably an endura 50 would be a better fit for a potoon boat. assuming the boat is normal size. if its a smaller one then this motor might work just fine. give it a try and see if it moves you about fast enough for your taste.

go to any auto part's store.get a 50 amp 3 way it wil say on-off-on make one forward the orther rev work for me
