There is no such thing as a reset button on a Dyson.
If you have a problem where the motor cuts out shortly after switching on this is indicative of a faulty motor - it has an over-current sensor that shuts off to prevent overheating and possibly fires.
You need to have the motor replaced. It is possible to do this yourself if you have very good DIY skills and tools, or a repair shop should be able to do it for a reasonable fee. Replacement motors are available on eBay, and if you search YouTube, there are loads of "how to" videos on this sort of stuff.
The ball shell screws on the bolt sticking out of the side of the vacuum. Remove the little cover and twist the ball shell back on the bolt. Sometimes he bolt breaks off and needs to be replaced.
Hey, this is Jeremy with Crucial Vacuum,
There are 3 potential reasons as to why your Dyson DC41 roller brush is not working:
1) The brush bar may be blocked by debris that was picked up by the vacuum. To remove the blockage, switch your vacuum 'OFF' and unplug before proceeding. Then, lay the vacuum down and try to remove anything that is lodged in the roller brush. If you still cannot clear the obstruction, you may need to remove the base plate to gain better access to the bar.
2) The roller brush may be set in a position that is too low for the type of surface that you are working on. Vacuums have different recommended heights when working on carpets and hardwoods. Try switching the brush "on" or "off" based on what type of surface you are working on.
3) If the vacuum cleaner brush is not spinning the belt might be broken, stretched out too much, or might have fallen off. Check the belt and replace if needed.

Hey this is Jeremy with Crucial Vacuum,
To attach the cover on your Dyson DC41, first lay it flat on the ground with the handle facing up. Next, place the cover over your filter on the roller-ball located near the brush-roll of the vacuum. Rotate the cover clockwise until you hear 3 clicks and you'll be all set to continue vacuuming.
To help you see this visually please refer to the link below. Specifically, you can look at page 6 under section B.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.
The issue you've described sounds very unusual. Both halves of the ball shell include bearings, and should rotate freely on the axle. If you can't see anything obvious that could be jamming it, I would encourage you to contact us directly for some help.
Just to make you aware, dismantling the machine any further than is shown in the User guide could void your Dyson warranty, so we would advise you not to try to remove the ball shell without contacting us for advice.
When you have your DC41 easily to hand, please call the Dyson Customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU). Our experts will talk you through some simple troubleshooting checks, and may be able to resolve the issue right over the phone. If not, they can discuss your options for repair.
We'll look forward to speaking with you.
Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.
DC41's changeover valve is a complex mechanism, and we would usually recommend having this repaired or replaced by a qualified Dyson engineer. If your changeover valve failed in normal domestic use due to a manufacturing issue, and not due to misuse or a lack of maintenance, the repair may be covered under your Dyson warranty.
We're not able to provide directions on carrying out this repair yourself, but I would encourage you to contact the Dyson Customer Helpline to discuss your options. You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).
Please be aware that if your DC41 is within the Dyson warranty period, and your dismantle the machine any further than is shown in the user guide, you could invalidate your warranty.
Hi, it's Allie from Crucial Vacuum!
There are a few potential solutions you should try. Start by checking your unit's brushroll and clear it of any tangled hair strands or debris that my be blocking the airway. Follow by checking the internal hose for any blockages.
If the unit's suction is still not normal, the problem could be related to your filter. Filters should be washed frequently after every 1 or 2 uses or at least once a month, and replaced every 3 to 6 months for optimal performance.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.
If your DC41 Animal has no suction from the hose, it's likely there's a blockage somewhere in the wand, hose or changeover valve. For help locating and removing this, please follow the steps shown in our Support video:
It's also a good idea to give the filters a wash - this should be done at least once every three months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for both filters to dry completely before replacing them.
I'm confident following these steps will resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further advice from our experts after giving this a try, you can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).
On this model dyson there is a flapper valve that opens when the handle release is engaged. It switches the air flow from the hose to the floor nozzle. They break there all the time, and you have to take it to a dyson repair shop.
