Belt on a riccar
It depends on the model, most models require simply removing the bottom plate and replacing the belt in place of the old belt.
Riccar model 8625 need compatible repalcement motor for original Ametek # 117405-00 12 amp no longer available ?
You can likely get any 8000 series motor to fit but there are different motors and you really need to talk to a qualified trained Riccar repair technician to determine the proper motor for your model. Your model is almost 30 years old and a newer motor would be difficult for the average homeowner to safely install. You were given good advice because they told you to discuss it with a qualified retailer for the proper way to safely get your vacuum running again. If done properly there could be many more years of usable service left I your old vacuum. If done wrong it could cause damage to the motor or other parts of the vacuum or even cause a fire, death or injury.
Beater bar inop
Could be a stretched belt, a slipping clutch if it has one or a problem in the floor selector switch if it has one.
Riccar 100 thermal switch on vacum doesn't reset
If the button will not reset it is possible it has not tripped. They can go bad but it is very rare. You can remove the wires from it'll bypass it. If the vacuum runs after you bypass it then it should be replaced.
Air not getting to hose
I'm not sure which model you have but this is good for Riccar upright vacuums. If the hose has good suction but is not picking up well check the suction tube that is down by the brush roll. The suction tube starts by the brush roll and goes to the back of the vacuum where you put the suction hose into. If it has a clog or restriction the vacuum will not pick up properly.
Suction/odor
could possibly be a bad bearing on the motor or motor itself. and possibly the end on the beater bar ( bearing or belt placement roller ) could be seized up .
Simplicity 7350 brush roller will not agitate on carpet, suction is fine as is the belt.
Your belt may look fine but if it's over 6 months old it may be stretched and Is slipping. At the age your vacuum is there may be a minor worn part that your dealer could fix easily. You have a
very durable long lasting vacuum but it could benefit from an occasional professional service. It will increase the life of your vacuum and save money in the long run.
