My riccar 8955. If I lift it off the floor while it is running it shuts off. What's up?

Your 8955 could be as old as 18 yrs. Try tightening the screw holding the handle in, it could be loose allowing the handle to move back and forth enough to keep the switch from activating. If it's an older vacuum or is used heavily it could have cracks in the body where the handle screw attaches or some damage inside the vacuum body where the handle bottom goes into. If that doesn't help, Remove the bag door, remove the screws at the top to remove the cover to gain access to the area where the switch and wiring is located to inspect for the cause. When you push the lever at the top of the handle a lever going down activates the switch. It doesn't take much play in the handle to make the switch go on and off.

The roller brush of my Riccar Brilliance vacuum is suddenly spinning extremely fast; way faster than normal, and is very loud. How do I rectify that?

I will likely save money by having it checked out by your local Riccar service center. A Brilliance can last a long time and work great but like any quality vacuum should be properly serviced every year or two depending on use. A qualified service technician knows what to look for and what your vacuum needs to work properly.

I purchased a riccar 2150L second hand with no information. I have a 10yr old riccar supralite and love it! But the 2150L looks older. I am curious what the age of riccar 2150L vacuum is.

Your m 2150 L is likely 25 to 30 years old. The first Riccar vacuums were made in Japan. Your was likely made in Taiwan. Production of most models was brought to St. James, MO 20 years ago. Filters, bags and some parts are still available from your local Riccar dealer, or from ThatVacGuy.com

Does riccar 2150 have a reset button if so where is it

I'm not sure if that model does but if so it will be on the back of the vacuum in the area of the motor compartment.

My Riccar vacuum was working but then just stopped and won't turn on. I changed the bag even. What's up?

Hi Patty. Could be: Power cord. Check esp. strain-relief where cord enters housing. On/off power switch. Needs strip down & continuity check. Motor burnt out. Smell if burnt. Strip search. Carbon brushes inside motor worn. Dismantle & check / renew. Does this help? Regards, Clive.

Screw fell out of Sunburst -- Can't see how to open to replace.

If the screw has no head it may be a stray screw that doesn't belong there. Even if there is a missing screw in your Sunburst it would likely not cause any harm to it.

Hello, I have a Riccar

The belt should be replaced at least once per year. They lose elasticity and will slip when vacuuming. The brush strips in the brush roll can be replaced. It is well worth having it serviced by a Riccar dealer,. The 8000 series can last many years but any long lasting vacuum will require routine maintenance.

RicCar vacuum overheating

If your Riccar is overheating you most likely have a full bag, clogged filters or a clog somewhere in the hose or vacuum tubes.

My belt came off my Riccar Radiance when I took the brush out to clean the hair off, how do I get the belt back on

The belt has to go around the motor shaft then under the roller on the pivoting lever (it's called the hall sensor) then around the brush roll. It may be easier to remove the top cover of the nozzle housing by removing the 5 screws from the bottom of the vacuum.

Why does the belt on a riccar vacuum keeps coming off?

The cause could be different depending on which model you have. Some models have stretch belts which should be replaced at least once per year because they lose elasticity. The most common problem I've found with Riccar vacuums is the belt coming off when a new belt is installed on an older model. Riccar vacuums are very well built and many owners use their vacuum for many years without having it serviced. I recently had a 17 year old Riccar Vibrance model brought in for service because the belt crumbled to pieces. The vacuum had the original belt and filters. Putting a tight new belt on the vacuum pulls on the motor because it must be stretched so much. After many hours and years of use screws may need tightened up and motor mounts and pivot points can become worn. If your model is a few years old or is used heavily I suggest having it inspected by a qualified Riccar service center. A properly maintained Riccar vacuum can last 10 or even 20 years. A few dollars spent on maintaining it can add years to the usable life.

How do you replace a vacuum hose on a Riccar upright Vacuum.

Riccar Tandem Air models have a hose that has releases to push to remove the hose. Most Vibrance & 8000 series and older series vacuums have the hose attached to a swivel on the back of the vacuum. The hose can be unscrewed from the swivel. To remove the swivel you need to remove the vacuum bag inside the dust compartment, you must compress the tabs holding the swivel to the body to be able to pull it out.
