When i put on power protect light come on

If the amp is in protect mode, it probably has shorted output transistors. To eliminate other possible causes, do the following. Disconnect all speaker wires from the 'amplifier's speaker terminals' and disconnect RCA/signal cables from the amp. If it powers up normally, the speakers/wiring need to be checked. If it still shuts down (goes into protect mode), the amp almost certainly has shorted output transistors and will need to be repaired. If the amp only shuts down when it's driven to relatively high volume, you need to confirm that you have sufficient power supply voltage. With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter probe on the ground terminal of the amp (not on the point where the ground wire connected to the vehicle) and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red probe alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. If the voltage is below ~11 volts on either the B+ or remote line, you need to check the wiring feeding whichever line is too low. If 'both' the B+ and remote turn-on lines are low and your battery is fully charged, you may have a bad ground connection.

might have roasted your speakers voice coils a little which may be sending the amp into protect mode throw a speaker on it that you know works and if it doesnt trigger the protect circuit then you probably have a blown or almost sub.

I got a stock ford JBL amp with no wiring diagram

ok on most amps there are two sets of wire ports one for speakers & one for +12v,grd & 12v remote start if you look over each port it will say what port is for what wire if it is in a connector it gets slightly more complecated what you do is with a vm check from wire to chassis ground [like seat bolts] 12v with key off when you cet power isolate wire then turn key on till radio comes on then do the same test for 12v isolate that will be remote start then turn key off &check from the first wire to other wire for ground to find speaker wires connect a regular peace of wire to chassis grd & touch the wires you will here the speaker pop be sure not to hold the wire on long cause it will blow the speaker

No Audio

IT MAY BE A GOOD IDEA TO CHECK THE WIRES BEHIND THE HEAD UNIT AS THIS IS WHERE EVERYTHING IS POWERED FROM, MAYBE A LOOSE EARTH LEAD OR MAYBE A LOOSE POWER LEAD, SOMETHING SOUNDS LOOSE.

There should be 3 fuses on the amp itself and usually an inline fuse installed near the battery positive terminal. Check that one and also the battery connection.

Hope this helps.

Hi there just picked up a jbl bp 1200 for good

Most amps do a "power up" where all the lights can come on, then settle into "green light" or some sort of "ready status" light comes on. The red or yellow lights can indicate "protection mode" (a bad amp) and green is the universal signal for okay. - So try this - Double check your connections and the amp. Pay close attention to the settings on the amp before you declare it not working. I have had many amps (especially newer ones) cause problems from a simple switch that was in the wrong position. Be sure to use good power and audio cables matched to your amps capabilities with good strong grounds on a clean non-painted metal surface. If all is in order from there start checking your signal from the deck to the amp. You can also check manufactures website for the manual, (if you didn't get one) looking at it may give a clue about proper switch configurations and hook-ups. Let me know if you need additional info concerning these idea's.
