can you try and power up in safemode
by continuosly pressing f8 during startup
see if you can get in safemode

sounds to me like you are trying to read a dvd from a cd drive
if so you have to have a dvd drive in order to read the disk
cd drives do not support dvd drives unless they are cd/dvd drives

There are no drivers needed for Y410 in XP. Just press the FN+Esc key to turn on the camera.

1. Download the latest webcam driver here:

2. go to the camera section then click on Lenovo Easy Camera Driver
3. download the driver install it then restart your computer

your in windows xp and youre try to install sp3 from a disk i take it.
either the disk is corrupt,missing files or wrong version .causing blue screen.(fatal exception)
you could try leaving the disk in and reboot ...
when in windows select run D: or what ever letter is assigned to cd drive .( start , run , type in d: and enter)
this will show files on cd/dvd. drag and drop the .exe program into a file or on desktop and try to run.if it runs the cd/dvd is the prob (corrupt,virus,missing files.) if it does run its the software incompatable or faulty(incomplete files or wrong version)
either way the cd will be useless.
you can download sp3 (free)as long as you are using a registered os.

most of the laptop dvd drives have slower reading speed(about 2x) and writing speed(about 24x) compare to desktop pc's(about 8x and 52x respectively).
ur problem might have occured if the writing speed by which the cd was burnt might not be compatible with ur dvd player.
try playing dvds which were burnt using laptop dvd writers.
also try changing the modes in which the dvds are burnt.

Lenovo 3000 Y410 is not designed for windows 7, I don't think that Lenovo will make drivers for windows 7, you can try to install the Vista drivers. here is the link for 32 bit, they did not release any 64 bit drivers for this model. you can download and save the drivers to your computer then right click the installer then click properties, click the compatibility tab then select run this program in compatibility for Vista Service pack 2. If it still doesnt work you can try to run Windows update and hopefully microsoft have some patch for that.

Hi Eunice, just want to clarify, for lenovo notebook if it doesn't have DVD drive you can use external DVD drive to access DVD CD. DVD external drive is just plug and play device once attached in your USB port, it will automatically detected and once detected you can use it already. Just install Burner application to burn some files if your DVD is capable of burning CD.

Please first install the drivers of webcam from the below URL

Then download the Amcap.zip from http://www.download25.com/install/amcap.html. and Unzip it. Run the setup.exe. It will create "Amcap" in programs. click the Amcap to start the webcam.

Make sure first the the webcam driver is properly installed. You can check that one by going to control panel then click system icon then go to hardware then click device manager. Your webcam should be listed under imaging devices. If it is not there then you may try to enable it by pressing Fn + Esc key.

Check the wireless adapter if the computer was able to detect the card. Go to contorl panel then go to system then click device manager. You should be seeing your wireless adapter under network adapter. make sure that there is no exclamation mark on your wireless adapter. If there is, all you need to do is to reinstall the driver of the wireless card.
