i have little respect for safes that use batteries ever since i heard many can be "bumped" to open them. bumping is little more than one hand on handle to open safe and one hand holding a mallet (hard rubber to protect finish) then hit safe from different angles while gently trying to turn handle to open position. it's same principle as opening a pin tumbler with an oscillating device (VI- BRAY - TOR). takes a soft touch and a little patience until you get feel of technique then will be easy in just a few seconds....
