Kicker KX1200.1 Car Audio Amplifier Questions & Answers
What does sub sonic mean on my Kicker kx1200.1 amp? Do it need to be off or on?
Subsonic refers to frequencies too low for the human ear to hear. Generally humans can hear frequencies in the range of 20 to 20000 hertz (cycles per second), but we hear best in the range of 1000 to 4000 hertz. High amplitude subsonic frequencies can cause damage to your speakers so many amplifiers have an electronic filter in them to reduce the amplitude of these very low frequency signals.
I have 2 kicker l7 12 dual voice coil subs.. i
it all depends on the impendance of your subs if u have duel 4ohm or duel 2ohm, 2 duel 4ohm speakers can be wired at 1ohm to the amp, and with a kx1200.1 that would be pushin 2400 peak and 1200rms
if ya have 2 duel 2ohm speaker than you can only wire them to 2ohm and would be pushing 1200 peak and 600 rms with the kx1200, so if you have the duel 4ohm i would go with the kx1200.1 and if u have the duel 2ohm i would go with the hifoncs
I have a kicker KX1200.1,
I have the same problem with the same amp and am looking the solution also, if you find it and give it to me if I find I give you
My amp kx1200.1 works only 5 minutes and then
You need to swap your main battery for a high performance kinetic... and maybe even ad a small kinetic in the back as well (fused separately) and see how that works for you. Just one oversized kinetic battery replacing your stock battery may do that trick. Remember, its best to install two batteries of the same brand and size, its ok to use the same brand and two different sizes (a kinetic 2400 and a kinetic 600 for example, but with an isolator) but its easier and simpler to just put in a kinetic 1200 or something that will replace your stock power sucking ineffecient lead acid stuff.
My ground is good I
If the speakers are connected, first try disconnecting the speakers. If this works to restore power, check the impedance of the speakers from where they connect to the amp to see if there is a short in the wiring or speaker.
If the voltage drops even with no speakers connected, the short is internal to the amp.
Amp is blown. How do
DEPENDING ON THE PROBLEM, YOU CAN BRING IT TO AN ELECTRONIC REPAIR SHOP,BUT FIRST,CHECK THE FUSE IN THE AMP
Your answer down there describes to me really well
Not a question of better, it is what you are trying to accomplish with the equipment you have. If you have a subwoofer attached they have a very low frequency response. All energy used to reproduce high frequencies is wasted and lost as heat because the sub won't reproduce them.
