Nikon Archer's Choice Laser Rangefinder Questions & Answers
My nikon archers choice just recently started
Hi,
The unit needs an alignment. Vibration and dropping the unit is the
number one killer of rangefinders.....After a while of using them,
(bouncing around in golf carts, cup holders, dropping them on the cart
path, or the ground) small prisms start to move inside and decrease the
units effective range.... (only able to hit a target at about 150 yards
or less) People that use these type of instruments have to realize that the laser beam is the straightest line in the history of man!!!. Alignment is crucial!!!
Alignment
is due. For all you players that think its okay to take off the
eyepiece cap.....(bad idea) This is why you see oily looking spots or
black spots in the view. Direct sunlight will be magnified and burn the
surface of the LCD. Nikon is good about warranties but, if you take
it apart...the warranty is void!!!! So if its 2 years old or
less.....(send a copy of the proof of purchase) .send it to them. If
you have sunlight burns already...this won't effect the performance of the unit. Wait till something else is wrong.
THE
COST..... $50 for alignment, $15 for LCD, $40 for newer eyepiece that
helps deflect direct sunlight (will not prevent thermal burns but,
protects for longer periods of time before damage happens) $15 for
clean and adjusting.
Unfortunately, there are no recalls for the same.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
Why is my archers choice
I "thought" my Nikon Archer's Choice was draining batteries, erratic behavior, only top charged batteries would work, ouch. Discovered that the battery compartment connection was the problem (after going through several batteries!). I first put a 1/8 th inch spacer between the battery and the compartment cap and found it worked fine. Looked in the bottom and there is a gizzmo on the + terminal post, took that off so that better contact could be made, plus cut away excess plastic on + side of battery and now it's terrific! Always works, battery lasts forever. May or may not fix your problem, but certainly fixed mine!
Wont measure distance
Must see if the battery is in correct polarity and is set right . If power comes without any measurement, thenit is possible that the laser is not active , the beam is not readback , the processing is faulty for the return signal.
Might have the main board processor faulty.
How do I remove water from INSIDE my Nikon A211
Get some industrial size silica gel bags and warm them in the oven. Put a couple of bags inside a large Ziploc bag with the binoculars and leave them in a warm place like an airing cupboard for a week. It there is a lot of water, remove the object lenses (the large end, they should unscrew) and shake the water out. The gel packs last forever and can be dried out in the oven before use. I have some from the mid 1960s as my dad used got them at work from rolls of copper foil that were delivered to make printed circuit board.

There is a continuous measurement mode that facilitates multiple measurements without requiring users to make any additional adjustments each time they switch targets. This mode helps users to gauge the accurate distance between particular objects and their current positions.
The built-in slope compensation deals with the changes in slope heights almost accurately. Making precise measurements at different angles up to 89 degrees becomes a breeze.
