How do i reboot a dell server

That would depend mostly on the server. It is recommended to initate most shut downs via the installed OS. If that isn't possible then you can simply hold the power button to power down the servers. Hope this helps.

Sel full 1912 error

Hello,You will get the "Sel Full 1912 error" on your server when the system event log is full and unable to record further events. You must clear the event log before the error will cancel. Boot your system into the BIOS/CMOS, locate the system logs and select clear log, reboot your system. Once the system is back up, I would go into the admin task folder and make sure the logs are clear there as well. Good Luck. Please rate my solutions here on FixYa.com

I have a Dell Power Edge 2950 running on Ubuntu.

Hello, You may have a damaged hard drive and it needs to be replaced. If the system is still under warranty, Dell will replace the drive free, you just need to go online, supply your systems tag number and follow the instructions from there. If you have just the one drive, you will need to restore the information froma a backup. If you have a RAID set up, once the hard drive is reinstalled, the RAID will sync the drive to the others. How to remove cooling shroud

Hello

To do that you need to:

Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical
outlet. Then open up the system.

To remove the cooling shroud, release the blue latches on the shroud by pulling each latch outward
from its securing tab.

Lift the shroud straight up to disengage the fan connector from the system board, and then lift the
shroud out of the system.

My dvd rom will not

If you have a spare USB flash drive lying around, you could try using http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ with the ISO image. Then, hit F11 while the 2950 is booting and you should be able to select the flash drive.

If that doesn't work, see if you can find updated firmware for your DVD-ROM on http://support.dell.com or if it's an aftermarket install go to the OEM's support site.

Failing that, maybe try different media. If you're burning to a CD-R, try a different brand (and avoid CD-RW discs.) If you're using a DVD-R, try a DVD+R.

Good luck!

How to use the smart start cd to install dell

Smart Start is an HP utility. Dell has a similar one called Systems Build and Update Utility (SBUU) or Systems Management Tools and Documentation (SMTD - much larger download and includes SBUU).

You should use the DVD version if possible, and if you are installing 2003, it should have SP2. If it doesn't, then you can use nLiteOS.com to integrate the Service Pack into your installation media.

E2111 SBE LOG Disable DIMM

The E2111 should also indicate a number after the DIMM, this is the bank of the DIMM it believes to be bad. Depending on your support contract situation, and ability to bring down the machine, reseating the module after cleaning it a bit with some good old 'canned air' may do the trick. Otherwise a module replacement is in order which is typically covered by DELL if you are still under coverage.
