Check the Inverter Board, its not working.

Check ur HDMI cable,replaced it or change diffrence modes,might help setting back to normal.

Offhand, in response to your posts:

• can't get a picture - indicates that the XBR went into video mute automatically. This is a feature should the unit sense the absence of usable video signal;
• signal - or perhaps "NO SIGNAL" is a status message confirming the above prior to muting.

Initially, checks would involve making sure that the connections are tight and that there is signal being fed to the Sony. If the signal is from cable or aerial, try the same connection with a different TV just to ensure that signal is present from either. Alternately, try another signal source such as an old VCR or a DVD player to feed the XBR.

Postback results of above initial tests and/or any update(s)

what u need to do is check your antenna as well as check that your tv is getting input on the av/hdmi/etc inputs, if your tv is still not picking up antenna signal, try on another tv unit or try the tv on anothe antenna signal. If you get no tv signal u need to replace the tuner printer circuit board, the one with the rf tuner module on it. Good luck.

if it is possible (not shure) choose PIP and after that choose your source.....

it is fixable, but it depands on the cost, compared to buying a new 1..the problem is with the vertical deflection board....if can get it hope it will work..other options are, reservice the whole unit ..

Chances are you have a BU Board that has failed. The only way to know for sure is to get a Qualified Service Person out to verify the symptom.

Read your manual well, there could be interference nearby causing the erratic behaviour. Also make sure its not overheating.

Possibly a defective LCD display panel. Have your local Service Center verify this first.

I hope I can help you with your issue ,
If the colors are wavy,doubled and will not move using the remote convergence menu your ICs are most likely bad, plus possibly a few resistors.
You can only adjust the red and blue in the customer menu, the all 3 colors can be adjusted in the service menu. If the ICs are bad (probably are) after you solder new ones in you may not need to do any adjustments , so leave the adjustments alone if . If you would prefer a repairman fix the set the ICs can be replaced for between $300 and $400
here is the DIY (do it yourself) info
this model PTV has two convergence ICs on a large heatsink (metal thing with fins on it) . taking it apart will require 1/4" and other driver bits and involves unplugging delicate cables and other cables that should be marked if unplugged.
I will not go into detail about how to take the board out, but know this there are a few philips screws holding it down after removing the back. The ICs are screwed to the large heatsink and when replacing make sure there is some heatsink compound on the metal to metal surfaces. also look carefully at the resistors near the ICs and check the pico fuses that supply the two voltages -35 and +35, usually I find one burnt pico fuse 5amp or 3.15amp . The two ICs are part # STK392-560 available online for around $15 each here

Install the ICs and if the blue is still off check the supplying pico fuse for the blue. (I just check the pico fuse on the power supply the two convergence ones are side by side each other)

The screen has failed. Well specifically one of the small baords attached to the edge of the actual LCD panel itself. It is not replaceable on it's own only with the LCD panel itself.

If the TV is under warranty, Sony is 3 years I think, then take it back.

Ur tv shouldn't set in cable mode, if u don't have pay cable,or satalite,extra..Should set in air channels.Buy a digital antena or out side roof antena u get all the channels airs.

This can be the panel itself, and or the matrix decoder/driver boards. The cost of this type of repair can approach the cost of a new set. From your description, I am thinking it is the panel itself that has failed.

Parts for your set are from Sony only because there is no third party manufacturing for these types of parts and assemblies.

Usually, when these types of sets become defective they are usually not worth servicing. During warranty the manufactures generally give a new set to the client, or they give a re-built set which has been built up using parts and modules from other sets that came back for service and had different types of problems.

If you know a tech is is good at servicing these types of set, maybe he can find a number of scrapper set of the same model to take parts from. You just have to hope the ones he finds have the same types of fault.

Turn ON the TV

While holding down the UP arrow button on the Remote Control, press the power button on the TV (hold for 10 seconds)

The TV will turn itself off, then back ON again.

Release the up arrow button. 

I recommend that all big screens get turned off when not in use for 10 minutes.
Some sets have screen savers, some don't. Also, when plugged in and turned on they are susceptible to power spikes, another reason to turn it off.

make sure all connections are in right spot's

Your format is wrong. Make sure that your tv is in full mode and your direct tv is in 1080i stretch mode. This should correct the problem. Also, WB is having problems. This is common on their channel. If it is happening on any other channel, try the above. Hope this helps. JOHN
