Try this: press and hold the ON button for 45+ seconds WITHOUT the batteries. Then put new batteries in. It worked for me. I bought a second unit at the thrift store and thought it was broken until I tried that. Works just fine now.

check your input cable and make the they match up to the input setting your have your tv on.

You should definately call customer service! I had to do this with our vsmile and they were very helpful with tech issues immediately. You can call them at 1.800.521.2010. One thing to try, they had me do this on the home unit. Unplug everything, then hold down both buttons on the front for one full timed minute. This resets the unit. See if this works for you. They will ask you to do it on the phone first anyway. If not, I hope they are able to suggest other helpful solutions for you! If not, you can find a good deal on a new one on ebay. Good luck! I know how much the kids enjoy this unit!! :)

My daughter's was doing this too! It turned out there was a short in the wire that hooked to the TV. We bought a replacement and it was fine.

You need to use the composite (Red, White, Yellow) connections that come with the Vtech. Once connected you will probably need to change your TV to use the 'EXTERNAL' input source.

make surt you did the steps in the right order. Start with the TV and Vsmile OFF.
step 1) put the cartridge in and make sure it's all the way in
step 2) turn the TV on
step 3) turn the Vsmile on
if it still doesn't work, try taking the batteries out or unplug the adapter to let it clear and then try the steps again.

This system can be frustrating because if you don't do things in the right order, it won't work. I wrote the instructions in permanent marker on the side of mine. Start with the TV and Vsmile OFF

if it still doesn't work you may have to take the batteries out and it seems to clear and then follow the steps again. It is easier to buy an adapter instead of batteries so if you need to clear it you just unplug it and start over. Good luck!

you don't need the adapter but it's cheaper than changing batteries all the time.
