Good guess on letting it cool. A single red light is an overheating problem. If your still under warrenty you can send it off to microsoft to fix. If not then you can try a couple of things to keep it cool.

1: Buy a small fan and point it at your xbox. Airflow is important, moving air is cooler and air that is standing still.
2: Buy an intercooler for your x-box. This costs between 20 and 30 USD ($).
3: Do both.

There is a possibility that you could experience problems down the line but if its still working properly and still loads from the hard drive then you are probably one of the lucky people that have got away with it.

Problems you could encounter later is the dreaded red ring of death which has nothing to do with the drop but rather bad design of the X-Clamp on Microsoft's part.

Main problems are E errors, Open Tray errors and sound but no video.

You can either replace the laser or the entire DVD Drive. Basically, a component in the DVD drive has worn out. You can purchase the part(s) you need from the following website... or they can also do the repair for only $69!

it sounds like your dvd drive lens is dirty or out of line without opening your machine the best bet is to buy a cd with tiny brushes on to clean any dust of lens if not you would have to open xbox to clean lens yourself i have plenty of experience with drives they can easily be damaged so get help if not sure.

if you have hardrive on xbox remove and insert memory card but be careful because if it keeps failing to update you can get a blue error screen and it makes it useles s until you download error update disc

there is a problem with the console already, try power cycling it first, and remove everything from it including the Hard drive and turn in back on without any accessories attached.. if it still does not work, call xbox support, they should have some resolution for you..

Call Xbox Support and ask them (if the Game is still in warranty) and have it exchange..
