make sure that your controller is sync with the box properly, there is a little white button on the top of the controller and the same picture white button on the front of the xbox, push 1 and then the other and they should find eachother

make sure that you run the dvd it came with, that is the most important, then go into your setting on the xbox and pick your router out of the list, the green light should stop flashing when it picks up your router, especially if you have a password on your router, you will need to enter that in the settings screen

try taking it back and getting a new one. might be a defect

make sure you hit the button on the box and then the button on the controller and they should detect eachother, being button by dvd drive and buton on controller on top by charger input

press the button on the top of the wireless controller while its on and turn on your xbox. then press the button directly next to the power button

That actually surprises me. My xbox 360 controller has taken worse drops than that, and it is still in perfect working condition. Usually, the are well-built (atleast the controllers). It sounds like the drop might have made something loose, creating a short. If this is the case, unless you feel confident in your ability to take apart a controller, check for loose parts or cracked, or broken solder, and solder and/or reattach the problem spots, I would suggest that you send it in to microsoft (if you have a warranty, or just don't trust others with fixing it), or looking for someone in your area that can fix the problem(s) with confidence.

have you synced it ??
the little button on the top of the controller (where the fire buttons are) ....press it (which will make the green ring (around the 'X' button on the controller) rotate)....you then need to press the sync button on the front of your xbox elite with-in a couple of seconds of pressing the button on ur controller... this will also make the green ring (around the power button on the xbox) rotate for a few seconds until both player '1' lights illuminate on both the xbox & the controller :-)

i would recommend durracell plus rechargeable batteries as this would be cheaper in the long run
and/or
an official microsoft plug and play charge kit

There are 2 sync buttons. One on the console and one on your controller. Push the one on your console(a small white button on the bottom front of your faceplate) You will see green lights in a circular motion. Then push and hold the small white button on the top of your controller until it also does the circular motion then release. You should then see the controllers and console link and the lights will stop blinking. There you are(connected) I hope this helped

try to turn on your controller using a plug and play charge kit (if available) if it turns on then you have burnt out the rear power source chip and a new controller is a must if wireless is preferred, if it doesn't turn on then you have somehow managed to burn out both the power source control chips and is costly to repair, so my advice is if this is the case then purchase a new controller.
i had this problem when fitting my first mod kit to my controller as i kinda put to much solder on one of the prongs and it connected to another and fried it.

For pairing the Xbox 360 controller make sure you hit the pairing button on the wireless controller and Xbox 360 unit together, there's a little circular button under the memory card 2 slot, press it (while xbox is on)
now press the one on the controller (next to lb) and it should connect.

you mite have spilt water on it or something or it could just be a factory default if te controlers is new then its probably jsut a factory default see if you can take it back to the place of purchase and exchange it but keep you hardrive so u dont loose your game. there usually is a 30 day return policy incase things like this happen
