SYSTEM SHOWS ERROR CODE PROT AND SHUTS DOWN

Check the impedance (resistance) on all the speakers and the speaker wires themselves.
Power up the unit with no speakers or inputs attached at minimum volume and see if it still goes into protection mode.
Most speakers should measure between 4 and 8 ohms for most systems when disconnected from the receiver.
If the unit says PROT even with no inputs at minimum volume with the speakers detached, then there's a problem with the amplifier itself, probably in the output section.

I want to listen to radio stations

I wasn't certain that it has an FM radio on it, so I searched the web and it seems to be yes it does. If this is the case you will need a radio aerial, once you have that plugged in, you select the tuner option and tune the stations in that you want.

My samsung home theater will not read a disc. when

Hi,

No disc error can be a DIY like the following steps.

Assuming that the disc is good.

1.Cleaning the lens. - Sometimes because of dust filled up the lens can't read any disc.

Try clean the lens by soft cotton buds. Be careful while doing this.

2.Replacing the ribbon - Check the ribbon connected to the lens from the main board for scratch, damage. Once it has an open line then of course the lens can't read the disc. Also try to erase the contact by pencil eraser.

If you've done the steps above and the symptoms still there then the next step requires you a little knowledge in soldering technique and reading the ohmmeter.

3.Checked the motor - Check the motor that spin the disc with an ohmmeter. You can test it using the ohmmeter (x1) even it is connected on the lens assembly.

Good motor - reading should be fairly high and it will spin.

Bad motor - reading will drop to low resistance and will not spin.

Hint : 50% of my repaired unit the above parts are commonly caused of the problem.

If you confirmed that you have a defective motor then replace it with a new one. Before replacing the new motor you have to check the clearance of the disc holder with the old one. The clearance should be the same as the old because if not the lens will not read the disc if it is too far or too close.

If you already cleaned the lens, and confirmed that the ribbon is good as well as the motor then I've advice you to send it to repair shop because the next step should be done with an expert because it is quite technical diagnosing the fault between the pick-up lens and the main board.

Hope it may help you.

Thanks for using fixya.

I need help , hooking up my samsung HT-Z410 HOME

first of all here is a link to the manual....http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/200802/20080220095448484_HT-Z410-XAA.pdf and yes it can be conected thru your comcast but you wil need to buy probably cheapest at wallmart an RF Modulator (Less than 20 dollars) and from your cable box (vidieo out, or to tv) install the cable to the rf mod unit (ant in) and that converts it from coaxial cable to rca (meaning a cord with yellow ,red, white push on connectors) plug the red and white into aux input on surround system (see #3 on manual view on backside of surround unit)and and you got it.It your tv does not have a yellow vidieo connection (which is where the the yellow plug into tv)in the back then add a coaxial splitter after the comcast box so that the 1 coax line goes to tv and the other coax goes to the rf mod then thru RCA cables to the surround sound.you may need to buy xtra cables but they are cheap. hope i helped........you may try asking family or friends for the above equipment i described.the newer tv's dont need it and many people have this stuff layen around...good look

Hi, I have recently purchased a

Are all the speakers connected? Some will not tone out in 5.1 if the center channel is not connected.

Pop in a Blu-Ray disc and see if it changes to 5.1 once it plays the movie (after the intro and menu, most of thoes are only 2 channel anyway) It should automatically poll the signal and switch it to 5.1

Take your remote and change the Surround Mode to any multichannel variety. If the receiver is in 2 channel then you can't tone out the other speakers.

Failing that reset the unit again and re-do the speaker setup.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Kevin

No sound coming through system when tv on but

you need to link the tv sound out to the aux/tv in on the dvd. Or if the scart connecters on the rear of the tv have a 2 way arrow, showing input and output on the one scart socket (usually scart 2) and the dvd supports scart sound in use that.
Then select the source on the dvd that coresponds to the conecter used.

Losing picture while watching dvd

your in luck , I just had the same exact issue and it was driving me crazy! and here is the solution ,check the hdmi cable sometimes the bend in the cable is enough to make theese highly sensitive cables cut their signal where the picture goes out but the sound is still on , i have a entertainment cabinet that houses the stereo/lazer disc player/blue ray player / and power amplifiers , well this cable along with other hdmi cables was a cheaper guage wire ,so i replaced it with a guage wire hdmi and never had the problem again , if you take your hdmi cable and just sort of press up against it and move the wire with your hand ,you will probably see your picture cut out , the conector pins that the hdmi cable plug into are like little needles and they are extreemly sensitive to movement and especially the cheaper cables , if you have a better hdmi cable just switch them and you will see what i mean , Another way to test it is to just use component cables and see if your picture cuts out , if it dose,nt then you will know for shure its the hdmi cable , Hope i was able to help you fix your problem , if i was of help please leave a nice rating for me , sincerely glenn mayer and good luck!

Problem getting home theatre sytem to play audio when watching tv

you need the red and white audio cable hooked into the AUDIO OUT connectors on the tv and the other end of the red and white cables into the AUDIO IN in tv to the media center (main Bose unit).....If your tv does not provide AUDIO OUT connectors, you cannot connect the tv audio to the 3-2-1 system. Continue using your tv speakers for sound.
