I have a LP60 USB and theres a burning smell coming from the platter?

You mean while playing a record?.... I shall tell you a secret, eveytime you needle plays a record, it melts the vinyl a bit , just like that you can ice skate and melt the ice through the pressure. But if you smell your vinyl then your needle is installed very wrong. And needs to be replaced. Pls read this http://www.whathifi.com/how-to/how-to-set-turntable. if you smell your platter, without playing a song , you have to watch if. it spins at normal speed without variation, then you can remove the platter and give your bearing one drup oil. But that ain't the problem. you have to smell the motorunit, since it's a cheap turntable and ain't having good components, but start with following that link i gave you and you only have a motor with some electronics , a belt and a bearing with a platter and in your case a builtin usb and phono-amplifier which are useless, because the quality is way too low. not much can go broke.

I bought an Audio Technica USB AT LP 120 Turntable

Sorry it could be the cartridge! They can fail at anytime, only the stylus will wear with time. However it could be the amplifer's magnetic cartridge pre-amp. If you look inside your amp and trace back from the phono socket you should find the pre-amp. If it is distorting on both channels it's probably an IC that has failed.

Noticeable hum on one channel when plaing lps. if

Likely a loose connection on the cartridge at the end of the arm where the stylus fits in. Usually 4 very thin wires there with metal slip on connections that slide over the cartdridge pins. Check to see if they can be slid on better and or wiggle the wires a little and see if you can make the hum start and stop. Might be a bad connection here

Belt location

1) Remove the platter - just lift up
2) Underneath the platter, you'll see a small lip section
3) Wrap the belt around this lip
4) Put platter back on turntable
5) Rotate platter until you see the motor shaft through the holes on the platter - a brass round looking piece
6) Pinch the belt around the motor shaft.
7) That's it.

One channel vocals drop out

yes, it is very likely the stylus. the stock needle is conical shaped like a ball point pen. You might have a tonearm that is out of alignment but usually it's the needle. It is possible it is just dust on the tip but if it occurrs in consistent areas of the record, then it is likely that the music is just too demanding for the LP2D you will either have to use your old technics which is likely better quality or you could try upgrading the stylus on your LP2D.
If you do a yahoo search for "4-211-DE-GUARD" with the quotes, the 1st result will take you to an elliptical upgrade over the stock needle. The elliptical tip will pull more info out of the grooves and into your computer for further processing.

Audio-Technica AT-LP120 turntable. I have crackling in the passive speaker, but when I reverse the speaker wire,ie, red in black & black in red, the crackle appears in the powered speaker.

If you have replaced the cartridge then it must be the cartridge pre-amp that is faulty. If there are any other functions on the device such as CD, then it will not effect them. Unless there is crackling on any other function then the pre-amp has a problem. The pre-amp itself is generally a single IC. You can find it by following the turntable connection back to the inside of the amp. The signals will pass through the IC before being passed to the main pre-amp.

Brand new audio technica turntable and we’ve lost the left channel. Its not the reciever, the cd, dvd, works fine.

Use an alternative device connected to the input the turntable usually connects to. If both channels work ok the new turntable is clearly faulty and should be returned under warranty.
