LG Over-the-Range Microwave - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

IFB microwave ( which i have 30sc2) are directly imported from china, i find in many friends who bought this device are having a lot of problems, the microwave have major defect in the thin flim front membrane panel and the pcb board, after spending a 5 times with various issue the cost came to Rs 8700.00 not forgetting the repair done within warranty period, luckily i found a person who modified the front panel , replacing with MICRO SWITCH, the pcb was also modified relay, latter rotary switch front panel of Samsung and pcb was installed in place of old, now it had solved the problem, now use it only in convection and grill for nutrition reason. would like to help any one who has this problem.

It seems there is something wrong either with the builtin controls or the buttons. It needs to be examine by a professional.

Check weather the hock of the lock is broken and replace.

It is energy saving mode, its a bad design because it doesn't let you keep the clock displayed. Only will stay on 5 min

disassemble and replace tape or glue

If too much current passes through the microwave circuitry, the line fuse will blow. If the line fuse blows, the microwave won't start. To determine if the line fuse is at fault, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the fuse does not have continuity, replace it. In addition, you should investigate and resolve the problem that caused the fuse to blow. If you don't resolve the underlying issue, the new fuse will blow too. (Caution: The microwave oven can store thousands of volts of electricity in its high voltage capacitor, even after the microwave oven has been unplugged. Due to the potential for electric shock, it is extremely dangerous to replace the electronic components in a microwave. Only a licensed technician should replace the line fuse.)

the part is just a small motor. really easy to replace. and the part is inexpensive maybe under $20. but for a service person to come out and do the repair is pretty expensive in most places. at least $100. but if anyone you know is at all handy, they could do it easily for you. a couple of screws remove the bottom on the microwave. a couple of screws hold the motor, and two quick connect wires. thats it. good luck. (if this is just a tabletop microwave maybe a new one would be a better option. usually under $75)

door alignment not correct , fix correct alignment.

All microwave ovens have microswitches to confirm door open/closed. Many have several, and a bad switch can cause all sorts of strange issues. My ovens have 4 such switches, and I've had several go bad. You have to open the oven up to see which you need, measure them, and replace the bad ones. The good news is that the switches aren't expensive.

You are looking either a High Voltage Transformer or a Magnetron. These are only sold directly to authorized service technicians as the voltage that runs through them is extremely dangerous to work with. I would find a local repair shop in your area that works on Microwaves and take it to them.

The touch pad could be the problem. Touch pads are notorious for going bade. the door interlock switches could also be a problem. Check to see if all the pads work if they do it could be just the start pad that is bad.

Check the door switches. If they are good check the thermal cutouts. Check the connections on the control board.

On my GE, if you open the door, there are screws to remove that will allow the cover to be removed. When it quit working, I had to show the guy how to remove it. He thought he had to take it all the way down. Turned out to be the fuse (which I could not see when I had it opened) so he charged me half the cost to come out because I had to show him how to open it

The magnetron unit needs replacing.

By looking at it, if the metal strip is melted/broken the fuse is bad. Using a VOM to test it. Remove one side of the fuse from the holder, put one lead on each side of fuse. meter indicates 0.00 fuse is good, meter reading does not change fuse is bad. Electonis fuses can only be checke with a meter not visualy.
