You have to take the inner glass off first to get to the fixings for the outer glass. its normally 4-6 screws holding the frame for inner glass in place good idea to keep the parts in order for refix.

The oven should still be under warranty so you should be on the retailers case where you purchased it as they are liable for warranty claims. The simmerstat which you call the thermostat is the part that the temperature knob is attached to. They pack up fairly regularly and aren't expensive or hard to replace but definitely should last more than a year and be replaced under warranty. Give the shop where you bought it hell!

It is a good chance that the receptacles are bad. It could be the switches, but i would look at the receptacles first. The contacts burn out and the elements won't work. The elements themselfs can also go bad.
