I am trying to repair a Daewoo DVD Recorder DH-6111P and have need of a replacement hard disk drive 80Gb PATA. I have Seagate drives in stock. How do I prepare one for use in the machine?

hi, in this page show how backup software and very useful for drive replace http://vladikuz72.narod.ru/DAEWOO_DHR/firmware_backup/how_to_backup.htm6 The major problems are often drive support and getting the drives formatted for use. It typically can't be done using a Windows PC. Some units will auto format the HDD once it is installed (assuming a recognized and supported HDD is used) and others have data stored on the drive which must be moved to the new drive before it can be used. I've never worked with any Daewoo models and aside from Tivo units try to avoid it as it isn't typically worth the headaches.
  1. Plug the HDD from the Daewoo in your PC.
  2. Download this program: https://rapidshare.com/files/2092882716/DMDE.7z2
  3. Open the program and select the appropriate physical drive from Daewoo (Disk Management)
  4. Click: Mode> Hexadecimal. Then click Tools> Copy Sectors Start sector: 0 End sector: 19999 Destination: Click "File" And save where you can find it! It's probably 10MB.
  5. Click OK and after done, unplug the HDD
  6. Plugin you're new HDD and in the program click: Drive> Select Drive (you're new HDD)
  7. Again Hexadecimal mode! Look all the way down of the list. Find the number of the last block!
  8. Tools> Fill Sectors: Start sector: 0 End sector: That you've searched for Hex: 00 Click OK THIS MUST BE DONE, OTHERWISE IT WON'T WORK!!!!
  9. Now again Tools> Copy Sectors By source, select file and open the file you've saved in the beginning. Destination: Start sector: 0 Click OK
  10. You're done!! Plug the new HDD in you're Daewoo product and if followed the steps. It will give you the Daewoo boot up logo and immediately it will pop-up say: "Formatting Hard Disk"
I have now a 750GB HDD in my Daewoo!!! :D:D You have now the OS System (.BIN file) of Daewoo on your computer for future reasons. user manual http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/daewoo_electronics/dh6100p.html?p=1

I connect my seagate external hardrive to my xbox

Either you have 50 gigs of stuff on there or your hard drive space is not being properly read. U might need to reformat the drive if necessary. Meanwhile your xbox electronics may have a limit on the size of space - so if the drive has 200 gigs of space on it and your unit will only recognize 32 gigs, then that is all it sees and can use. Capiche?

St3250310as hard disk failure is imminent

Believe it, get a new hard drive and copy files to it. You can use a drive copy program such as Reflect, they allow downloading a demo version that works.

My seagate external 3TB freezes movies temporary however if i copy the same movie onto my hard drive it plays perfectly. are there any solutions?

That sounds like the drive cannot read the data fast enough. Try a drive with faster access.

Format a Seagate goflex freeagent 1TB drive to my Acer C720 Chromebook

Hi, Try this: 1) Plug your USB drive into a USB port on your Chromebook. 2) Open up the Files app (the blue folder icon). In the navigation sidebar find your device (if you have more than one connected make sure that it's the correct one before proceeding). 3) Right-click on the drive you wish to format and select the 'Format Device' option from the menu. For more information see the following link: http://j.gs/13861611/format-usb-chromebook

Where can i buy a seagate external drive circuit board to replace one I "fried" by overvaulting my current one?

Spare PCBs aren't usually avaiable as such. Unless something simple like a polyfuse blew on the board, then the original is probably toast. Your next option would be to obtain an identical drive and perform a transplant. But it will have to be identical - possibly down to the software revision.: (You may still have problems as tables of bad blocks are maintained by the controller)

Get full full capacity of external 2 tera Seagate that now is reaing only 110 gig

This has happened to me before, also. What I had done was copy a disc IMAGE from the old, smaller drive to the larger drive - and the larger one turned into the same size! You did not mention your operating system (Windows, Mac, etc) but my solution was in Windows to go to Disk Management function and view the unallocated space left. Sure enough, there was "unclaimed/unused" space for the entire difference in size. Following the instructions of the Disk Management tool, I just added the remaining space to what was C: drive. I could have just as easily created a different drive space with the leftover, it's up to you - but I find it preferable to have my space in one chunk. Note: This is a very sensitive area of Windows when you're dealing with file systems. A raw beginner might want to have an experienced friend help them through it, but if you follow instructions EXACTLY even a first-timer should be able to do it. If this solution does not work, let us know. Best wishes - Mark https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-open-disk-management-2626080 How To Open Disk Management
