Dryer does not dry clothes completely

If your machine is taking that long to dry. You either have a clogged vent to the outside or your gas valve coils are bad. You can check to see if it is your vent by disconnecting it for one cycle. If the unit drys in time then clean your vent. Click Here to see what a clogged vent can do. Click here to see gas valve coils.

There is lint down in the "basin" below the lint filters and I cannot reach it to vacuum it out. I empty the lint screens after each and every load but this has built up in the bottom in the stainles

unplug it,remove the bottom panel, pull out the lint filter, you'll see the metal duct that the lint filter slides into, remove the 1/4 inch screws that hold it in place and remove it and vac it out,if you have a shop vac you can blow the lint off of the motor and blow all the lint in the back of the cabinet forwards and then vac it up,this way you don't have to pull the dryer apart to clean it,you should do this once a year so you don't have any problems with the dryer and your clothes will dry on time, also you should clean out the vent line, pull out the dryer, remove the vent line,if it's a long run stick a leaf blower into the vent line and blow all the lint in it outside, first make sure you don't have a cage or anything that will catch the lint,if you do remove it and don't put it back then go inside and blow out the line.this happens to every dryer even if you clean the lint filter every time.hope this helps and good luck with your dryer

Won't let me change temperature and won't start up

There are some complex Circuit Boards on the newer models. It isn't a quick fix that I can give you. An Technician needs to check it over. Could cost a lot.

No display on some of the cycles, whens set on cycle that timer lights up and i push start button, the dryer turns off

Start Switch A faulty start switch will disable the dryer. To test the switch, access will have to be made within the control panel. Locate the start switch inside the control console. It will have two or three wires connected to it. Remove the wires by pulling at the connectors and taking them off the terminals. Using a volt-ohm meter, test the terminals on the switch. Set the meter to "RX1" and touch a probe to each terminal. A reading of infinity should be seen. Next, while still holding the probes on the terminals, press the start switch. A reading of zero should be present. If the switch does not pass either test, replace the switch with a new one. Door Switch If the door switch is faulty, the dryer will not run. To access the door switch, the top cover of the dryer must be removed. After the top is removed, open the dryer door and remove the two screws that hold the door switch on the dryer. Reach inside the dryer and remove the two wires off the door switch terminals and unsnap the door switch from the plastic mounting plate. Set the ohm-meter to RX1 and touch each terminal with a probe. A reading of infinity should be seen. While still holding the terminal and probes together press the switch button. The reading should now be at zero. Failure of either of those tests means the door switch needs to be replaced. Drive Motor The main drive motor could be faulty as well. It is located on the between the drum and the inside of the cabinet. Refer to the owners' manual for front cabinet removal and removal of the drum. To test the motor, disconnect the green ground wire and also the wiring harness from the motor. Have the volt-ohm meter set to RX1. Place one probe on the white wire terminal and one on the brown wire terminal. A reading of between 28 and 40 ohms should be read. Next place probes on the white terminal and the blue terminal. This reading should be between 25 and 40 ohms. Finally place the probes on blue terminal and the brown terminal. The reading should now be between 58 and 70 ohms. Failure on any of those tests will require that the motor be replaced.

Does anyone know of a fix for this probl

It sounds like you have a simple fix. The most likely problem is that you have a blown thermal fuse.Remove the lower panel, remove the lint filter from its housing, then remove the housing itself. It's a diamond shaped WHITE component on the duct work behind the lint filter housing. It will Usually have two blue wires on it.This fuse usually blows due to an exhaust problem. Lint build up, too long, kinked, pinched or otherwise compromising air flow. Check the internal duct and the external duct to be sure it is clear. Here is the part you need to order. The part comes with a 365 day, any part, any reason return policy.Thank you for using FixYa!

Whirlpool Duet Dryer Idler Pulley

see this causes and fix it. God bless youNot all will apply to every dryer. Check our video page for more style dryers. Rollers Many dryers use rollers or wheels to support the clothes drum. When these rollers are worn, they can be noisy. You should replace the whole set of rollers at the same time. You will need to disassemble the dryer to check these. Some dryers use rollers in both the front and rear. Check our videos for other style dryers. Belt The Belt should be replaced if you hear any noise coming from it or if there is any cracking, glazing, or grooves worn out. Replace the Belt along with the idler pulley. Idler pulley Dryers have a tension or idler pulley that keeps tension on the main drive belt. When it's worn, it can be noisy. When that happens, don't lubricate it. Just replace it. Glides Many dryers use nylon or plastic glides at the front of the clothes drum for support. When these are worn, they can be noisy. When that happens, replace the glides and bearing housing if necessary. Put hand inside drum near front and push up there should be no play. Rear drum bearing Some dryers support the clothes drum in the rear with a center spindle instead of rollers. The spindle may be a ball-and-socket type support or a shaft through a sleeve. When the components are worn, they may squeak, squeal, or rub. You can't repair them. Just replace the rear bearing when they're worn. Put hand inside drum near rear and push up there should be no play. This video walks thru another type. Blower wheel Your dryer's blower wheel pulls air over the heat source, through the clothes drum, and past the thermosta ts, then pushes it out the exhaust duct. The blower wheel, which is usually plastic, may wear out over time. But if it's noisy, it may simply be clogged with lint. Clean the blower and test to see if the dryer is still noisy. If it is, you probably need to replace the blower wheel. Many times the blower wheel is making the noise and it is commonly mistaken for the motor. Motor The motor may be making noise. The easy way to check is to remove the belt and turn the dryer on if it is noisy replace the motor.

MY whirlpool clothes dryer model number geq8811plo WILL NOT START

Hi chris_eldrid ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT. Sounds like your problem may be a broken belt, or the belt may have slipped off of the motor pulley, or idler arm pulley, faulty capacitor, or a faulty motor. Note: This method works for most front loading machines. If you have to check/replace/repair your drum motor, drum seals, belt, rollers, etc.If replacing drum seals be sure to use a good grade of weather proof cement to hold the seal/s in place, some seals are furnished with the cement to glue it in place.Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer if necessary. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch or other electrical connections. Remove the lint filter and the two screws that hold the filter housing to the top of the dryer lid. Then remove the top of the dryer by inserting a screwdriver between the top and frame on each side of the dryer to pop the lid up from the retaining clips.Note: Some of the tops tilt backwards on a type of hinge and do not have to be removed completly. Remove the front of the machine by disconnecting the door switch and removing the two screws located on either side of the dryer frame.Move the door and front of machine forward to remove. This will expose the belt, idler bracket and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn. Note:The way the belt goes back on is, as the belt comes off the drum has to be doubled (pushed together to form a loop) and goes under the idler pulley then to the motor pulley. Here is a link to see a picture of your belt routing in case the belt is broken when you open your dryer:http://www.expertappliance.com/dryerbeltconfiguration.html While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you remove and lubricate the drum rollers. And also clean the shafts of the rollers as they will collect hair, dust, etc and cause problems and then lubricate the shafts and rollers with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil or a vasoline type of lubricant. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting dry and making a squeeling noise, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.Bud

Unit has power but will not start

Hi Here are a few things to check:ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT. Check to make sure you are getting full 220 Volt power to the dryer, if you are then:Check your WiringOften the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. If this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.Check the Door SwitchIf the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. Check for continuity you should have none with door open, and should have a reading when closed. If not replace the door switch. If the thermal fuse overheats the dryer will not operate. It's located on the blower housing. It cannot be reset. You can test it with an Ohm meter or continuity checker, remove both wires from the thermal fuse and put the test probes to each of the ends of the thermal fuse, if no continuity then replace the thermal fuse.If you do not have a volt/ohm meter then:DO THE FOLLOWING: Remove the wires and tape them together and try to start the dryer. If the dryer starts then replace the fuse.A vent clogged with lint can cause it to overheat. Right after replacing a dryer element, always run the dryer on air fluff/no heat, and go outside to verify there's plenty of air coming out your vent system. If the vent's clogged, that new element can burn out very quickly.
