Try reducing thread tension.

Try a different bobbin

If no change, see "Cleaning the Hook Area" in your operators manual.

Inspect bobbin, bobbin holder and hook race for burrs. Especially if a needle broke just prior to the start of the problem.


Thread quality?... As a test, try using a different (new) thread, wind a bobbin with same new thread also.

Sounds like it needs a through professional cleaning. it either has some threads wrapped in somewhere, an accumulation of lint or just some mechanical parts that need some lubrication....most likely all 3.

Check for a thread jam under the needle plate. Wait for the machine to cool after the overload. Your material may be too thick or heavy for the machine. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

I had an older Janome machine, and when i needed a manual, parts etc. I found it best to go straight to the company. Saves you time and frustration searching. Do a google search for that brand of machine and add the model number and see what comes up. Be sure to to add the word manuals, or operating instructions too. Like this, from your google search type: (Janome sewing machine operating instruction, or manual) or something close to that. If nothing else you will probably find several dealers, and repair shops that should be able to help you. And you might try a web site called Free online manuals,to download.
