The dometic is designed to run down the road in the gas mode, but NEVER fill you LP tank with you unit switched on, in either the gas or AC mode. Make sure you shut everything down before filling the tank!

Work on gas but not on electric.

This is an absorbtion type of refrigerator and it relies on heat to produce a secondary cooling cycle.
The electric heater element has probably open circuited or rust has formed an insulating barrier around the heater prevrnting heat transfer. It is best to get a technician to check it for you

Freezer remains frozen but refrigerator is 52

Electrical: A 115 Volt, 60 Hz., AC only 15- or 20-
amp fused, grounded electrical supply is required.
It is recommended that a separate circuit serving
only your refrigerator be provided. Use an outlet
that cannot be turned off by a switch. Do not use
an extension cord

COOLING

Dust on the condenser coils can cause overheating, observe safety precautions then clean coils. Switch off the unit before you clean them. If the problem persists, test the compressor for overheating. Overheating will cause many problems with cooling ability. Leave the unit unplugged for 3 hours and plug it in again. If it starts working, the compressor is probably overheating (Observe cautions with food going bad). A simple cause of the problem might also be that there is not enough airflow Lack of airflow is the number one cause of compressor problems and thus an owner purchasing another unit for hundreds of dollars when you can fix it for free. There should be at least several inches distance between the sides and walls/cupboards/ceiling.

Electrical

There is an in-line fuse mounted in the line supplying the power to the ice-maker. It is in the wire clipped to the side, change out this fuse asap. It is actually a 20-amp fused, associated with the grounded electrical supply.

PARTS

You may order parts very cheap from here

TIME TO CHANGE YOUR FILTER

While your on the back of the system, please check the filter. There is a filter in the back of the fridge in the upper right hand side. If you do not change it, it will slow down the frig and burn it out permanently

1062 dometic works fine on

In that case either the heating resistance for the fridge is broken or the thermostat is faulty. Check at the back of the fridge if you have power at the resistance (if not, replace thermostat)  and if the resistance is still continuous (if not, replace resistance).

RV frig: won't run efficiently on gas

Hi Mitch,

Couple things to check, but they are going to take some time to do them.

First, check the burner area, and especially the burner itself. It should be free of debris, and have a nice blue flame when it is lit. The flame should be centered in the burner area.

Second, and this requires going on top of your coach, is to check your burner tube (after fridge has been turned off for a while). Open the fridge vent on the roof, and you should be able to reach down and remove the flue cap (if present). You are looking for a little piece of wire that is hooked on the side of the chimney. Pull this wire, and there should be a curved metal strip attached at the bottom. Look for insect activity, as well as the bottom edge being rough. The bottom edge should be smooth. Using a flashlight, you might be able to see down the chimney for debris that might have built up. Run a long thing brush down the chimney to clean it out. Remove the debris that has fallen into the burner area.

You also need to check your orifice to see if it is blocked, particularly if the flame appears to be weak. You can get an operators manual from bryantrv.com under the owners manual section.

By The Way, your fridge is on the recall list. You need to contact Dometic to check its status (you will need serial #) if you haven't done so already. If your fridge has the recall kit installed, did the gas operation possibly start after the kit was installed?
