I had this problem. You need to do a cold reset. To do this turn the machine off. Hold down the 6 and the # on the fax pad. Keep holding these keys down and turn machine on. You need to install the HP Scan software on each and every PC the MFP should scan to. In this software, you can create targets for the "Scan To" button. This is due to a hardware failure, the scanner assembly and the formatter board will need to be replaced.

Try doing a hard or reset or nvram:
1. Turn the printer off
2. Hold down the right arrow and the cancel button
3. Reboot the printer while holding the buttons and hold until permanent storage is displayed. Let go of the buttons and wait for the ready message on the display.

if this does not work contact hp 1800-334-5144 , if within 2 years from the purchase date ask for a case number to have the printer serviced under a service note.

To do an NVRAM reset follow these steps:

1. Turn off the printer.
2. Hold down the Cancel button and the right arrow button and while holding them turn on the power.
3. Wait for the message Permanent storage unit. Then release the buttons.

Wait for about 2 min. When the printer is back at the ready screen it has been reset.

Warning:it will reset EVERYTHING, including your serial number and everything else that matters.

if the Printer Unable o Scan & show the Error -- There is no TWAIN-compliant device installed. Please Install one & try.
Then U Follw this Tricks.It will solve Ur Problem 100 %.
Click on Add devicesClick on Start - search on scanner word -- click on View scanners & cameras -- Next - Selcet Manufacture Name & select the Printer Device Nname - next - Fiinish.

The HP M2727 has a known issue with the scanner error 8 and bad formatters. HP has extended the warranties on this product. I suggest you contact them directly and they will most likely exchange the unit.
