By your calling the HP tech, I'm assuming that the printer is under warranty.
Call HP back, ask to speak with the area manager, explain calmly that after 2 months
the problem isn't fixed. And give him the original service call number. Your problem will
get fixed.

This is an Issue with scanner

To restore the factory-set defaults
On the all-in-one control panel, press Menu.
Use the < or the > button to select Service, and then press .
Use the < or the > button to select Restore defaults, and then press .
The all-in-one automatically restarts.

Note: This procedure clears fax numbers and names that are associated with one-touch keys and speed-dial codes, and deletes any pages that are stored in the memory. The procedure then automatically restarts the all-in-one

You can also trun off the printer, and clean the scanner bed.

If still wont work, call HP (1-800-474-6836) or take it the HP service center.

When I turn on the printer it came up withe this message "Scanner error 6 " on the display pannel? What do I do to fix it?

The answer is yes to both questions. Follow the instructions below:-
Go to Adobe Acrobat. Click on FILE. Click on CREATE PDF. Click on FROM SCANNER. Click on SCAN. You should now be scanning your first page, after completing it you will be asked if you want to scan any more pages or close. Select to scan more pages till finished. You can also select to have Acrobat do an OCR after the scan which will allow you to search the document. To do this, click on DOCUMENT, click on RECOGNISE TEXT USING OCR and click on START

Remember to select for MAC os.

Wait until the installation program tells you to connect the printer.

Once installed choose the hp sollution center and select scan mode.
You can choose to scan a paper or a picture.

Are you getting this error printing a certain file or all files?

The reason I ask, according to my research this error is cause by a memory overload and they suggest lowering the DPI/resolution of the file.

I wish I had a more clean answer.

To save file in PDF format you either use plugin for MS Office or use Adobe Acrobat ver 6.0 - 9.0 to convert any file in PDF format.

the print job or install additional memory.

As for the 17 error?...I can't find it in the manual.
