toner light is still on
If you put new toner in your used cartridge and you still have the Toner light, you need to reset the "reset gears". Take the cover off of the gear side of the cartridge. The reset gears are actually attached to the inside of the cover. Move the gear with the lever to the opposite side of the current position.

So far as I can tell, the actual wireless setup software is not available for download at Brother's web site. The part number for ordering a replacement disk at brothermall.com is LU2442001.

My printer has turned itself "offline" and I cant get it back "online". I have tried to right click in the properties menu and nothing works.
I had the same issue and searched ALL over the net for a solution and was thinking about returning the printer until I found this. It works, ALL of my computers are up and running with no issues at all. Just follow these instructions and you should be up and running in no time.

Hi,
I'm trying to see what's wrong with my Brother HL-2170w printer. It was working fine yesterday, and now , for some reason, all 4 buttons are flashing and the printer won't print anything!
Toner LED: Flashing Yellow
Drum LED: Flashing Yellow
Error LED: Flashing Red
Go Button: Flashing Blue
I've tried cleaning the corona wire, removing and replacing the drum, removing and replacing the toner cartridge. Nothing seems to work. Please help!
When all lights flash it's a service problem. You press and hold the go button and see what lights are on then.error light means main PCB failure, Toner light means fuser failure, drum light means laser failure. Toner and error light means main motor error, drum plus error light means its a fan failure.

Opened front end and attempted to pull cartridge out. Tried pressing green tab on left side, toner cartridge will not budge.
Had the same thing happen to me today. When you open the door to pull out the cartridge, there is an arm (less than an inch away from the green tab) on the printer which should connect to the door. When you open the door it retracts a wheel which releases the toner cartridge/drum assembly. This had become disconnected from the door.

My Brother HL 2170W printer has red error light on. It was printing something over and over and I wanted to stop it so I pulled (oh, no!) the paper out and then I guess the red error light went on. I turned it off and on about a half dozen times and the red light is still flashing. Is it possible to fix it now?
There is probably still part of the sheet in the fuser at the back of the machine. The fuser will need to be removed and checked for scraps of paper and/or damage to the temperature sensor and v likely a dislodged paper sensor arm.

How to clean brother HL-2170W drum (DR-360)
reve the toner and drum from the machine, seperate the and put the toner aside. slide the tab back and forth about 20 times then blow in the slot. if you need to you can wipe the roller with a clean dry cloth.

I upgraded a Windows XP machine to Windows 7 and installed Office 2007. I had to back up and then wipe out the XP operating system and have not yet moved the files back to the Win7 system. The HL-2170w printer printed before the new OS was installed, but not after. It shows up as installed, it is the default printer, and is visible on the home network. The other computer on the network sees it, but cannot print to it either.
The print queue shows each job as Printing, but then as Error-Printing after about 45 seconds to a minute.
I attempted to update the driver, but this not only didn't work, it somehow disabled all of the USB ports. I had to reinstall Win7 again, but this time I left Office off until the printer works. I finally got the USB ports working, through multiple restarts and various configurations of PS/2 and USB keyboards and mice. The USB will still not recognize a thumb drive, however, and the shared permissions are being difficult, so I'm currently not able to restore the files from the XP system. At this point, I had to walk away from the job, and the current state of the system is essentially a fresh install of Win7 with a printer that is installed, but won't print, and a network drive that is shared, but unable to be accessed from the other system on the network.
Any advice is appreciated. Techno-jargon is fine, I'm A+ certified, I've just never worked with Win7 or this model of printer before. Thanks in advance.

drum light flashing on brother printer hl-2170w. what needs to be fixed?
To reset the drum message:
Open the front door
Press and hold down the white button for about 4 seconds.
Once all 4 LEDs are lit, release the button.
Close the front cover.
Make sure that the Drum LED is now off.

Brother HL 3075CW printer is offline and won't print
I am having the same issue. The printer works for a few days, and then the IP address for the printer changes and I cannot print anymore. Any idea as to how to solve that issue?
