You can find the instruction manuals for this model here. The one you are looking for is near the bottom of the list. Click on the link and the manual will open, then click on the save icon to save it to your computer.

In case anyone else would like to assist as well, please note that the model is Canon 8180C - on FixYa all questions are categorized according to the product model, so if it's not in the question, it's in the header above the question.

Now, to answer your question, have you installed the software that came with the machine? If not, do so now. If you have, try uninstalling it and re-installing it. Also make sure that the Canon is connected to your computer. Try unplugging the cable and plugging it back in. The instructions for installing the software are in the in the software guide, which you can find at this web address:

To scan on this machine, press [Scan], then [B&W Start] or [Color Start]. If this is the first time you've tried scanning with this machine, you may need to select a program to work with the scanner. Try selecting MF Toolbox ver. 4.9 (or whatever version you have).

The other option is to use your computer to scan the document. Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > Scanner and Camera Wizard. If it finds the Canon, it will scan the document. If not, then the software and/or driver is not installed correctly. You can also perform this function with other programs on your computer, such as Paint (choose File > From Scanner or Camera...) or even Microsoft Word (choose Insert > Picture > From Scanner or Camera...) If the program finds your scanner, it will import the image. If it doesn't, then the software and/or driver is not installed correctly.

You can download a camera user guide for your camera here. Instructions for protecting images begins on page 164. To unprotect an image, use the same procedures; when you press Set on a protected image, it will turn the protection off.

please use the print screen option in key board and then copy to a word file. it ' s the only way to do it
