not sure if your on copy mode or print mode ..close the MP tray door....turn off then on go to general setup select tray 1. not sure if your on copu mode or print the machine wants you to add paper to the tray that needs it. if you add paper dowes it still say"add paper" .if this is the case then the tray sensor is 1)broke2) pushed out of the way folded3) tray feed roller are not installed correctly no allowing sensor ..make sure your printer settings(properties) are set the that tray.

i need more info .is it a OEM brother cartrdsge or and aftermarket generic or a refill??

NON-Technical answer...this machine has four drums(connected) and four toners. the magenta appears to be the problem ... I would first take out the magenta toner..make sure you have a cloth and something to catch the mess. see if anything (crum,dust bunny,paperclip,etc)is in that area. if it very dirty, replace the magenta first( using generic??). open plastic cover in front where the toner was seated and move the green bar back and forth .close that back up. test it. it gets expensive after this and you should call a tech. before you throw money at a problem.

Throw that piece of garbage out and get an HP or Samsung. One of these has plagued my office for years and I've spent countless hours plotting its demise. Worse than useless: unreliable.
